The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
Been saying it forever: A Thousand Suns was the first time since Hybrid Theory that the band sounded original or fresh. Once you divorce yourself from your expectations of what the band SHOULD BE, I think a lot of people will gradually come to view ATS as a truly fantastic album.
The Hunting Party, on the other hand, is the most forced sounding thing I've ever heard. Just bad and boring in every conceivable way.

Their new single called "Heavy" is out. I don't mind them writing pop songs or using electronics, but god, literally everything about this song is just painful..

I don't mind exploring new grounds in music, but the only genre these guys sounded any good in, is numetal.
I remember winning A Thousand Suns in a radio competition - I ended up giving it to my mom.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
I stand by my assessment that the best thing this band has ever done is A THOUSAND SUNS. In terms of creativity, musical expression, composition, you name it -- it's their best effort by far.
But this? This is... Awful. And I don't say that very often. It was so clearly written with a professional songwriter from outside the group that it's almost lazy (her name is Emily Wright, if you want to look her up -- she writes for a slew of pop acts). Unbelievable.

Thanks for showing me that I don't have to care about this band anymore.Timotheus wrote:https://www.facebook.com/linkinpark/pos ... 6042961788

It's so hard for me, because they are the guys that got me into music. I'll always give them the benefit of the doubt.
Dev88, I agree with you on A Thousand Suns. It took me a long time to appreciate it, but it is a very artistic album.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
New song seems like a somewhat decent pop song to be honest...it just doesn't sound anything like Linkin Park. I can't say I was a huge fan of this band even in their heyday with the early numetal sound, but I can see why fans of that sound are definitely disappointed with the band now. New song is kinda catchy if you like pop though.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
The internet's raging again, but I honestly kind of like the song. They set the bar really low with Heavy, so there's that, but I like the vibe they were going for.
The problem with them doing pop like this is that it's going to sound outdated in 3 years. Pop is in constant change.. Be ahead of the hype, don't follow it.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
This is unbearable, and this is coming from a guy that is very open-minded when it comes to music. The stuff they're doing at the moment is a blatant money grab. Chester can say whatever he wants about fulfilling one's musical pursuits but I don't believe that a band that built their fame on nu metal and had fun doing that back in the day, feel fulfilled writing popular pop radio crap.

The fans need to boycott this sell-out album.
It worked with Suicide Silence.

Why is he putting out these songs under the name "Linkin Park"? This is obviously a solo project.

Brad and Shinoda were heavily involved with the lyrics/production. The drums and bass are right there. Still sounds like a band effort, just not a rock band. I'm sure live Brad will add guitar, just like he did with Heavy.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
The 2 new songs by LP were alright. Not what I was expecting tho.
Honestly, numetal was dying at the time, they had to switch to something else. I thought their third album, which consisted of alt rock fit them pretty well.
Anytime u change ur sound, ppl are gunna hate. Makes me wonder if some bands could even change their sound at all, such as BB, AB, or Chevelle.
Haters guna hate.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
^ True that. Always respected LP's more experimental direction and understand they needed to move away from the nu-metal sound. This is find a lot harder to respect, because it's very poppy and not very experimental at all.
But whatever, I hope it works out for them.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
Honestly, I usually feel with a lot of bands that their older material is better, but not always. With Rise Against and Soundgarden, I feel that both those bands really found their stride AFTER their first two albums.
(Note: I have heard every album by Soundgarden and Rise Against multiple times).

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
Sorry for Now isnt too bad either, that and One More Light are my favorites from the album
Thanks Timo!
Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
The guitars in One More Light honestly remind me of something I'd hear on a Buckley album, I dig it.
Edit: also reminded of the soundtrack Slash did for "The Wrestler."
