Re: The Official RED thread!!!
All of this doesn't really make it exciting to give these guys another chance, lol.

Forever still has my favorite chorus of any song they've ever written. The only thing this new album misses is one or two hooks like that.

This so much. That song is incredible and probably my favorite song they've ever written.Andy92 wrote:Forever still has my favorite chorus of any song they've ever written.
The more I listen to Of Beauty and Rage, the more I fall in love with it. I don't know what it is, but I can listen to the album over and over and not get tired of it.
My favorite albums in order:
Of Beauty and Rage
Innocence & Instinct
End of Silence
Until We Have Faces (This album starts off strong but gets weaker for me as it goes, until Hymn For The Missing)
Release the Panic & Release the Panic: Recalibrated
I love all their albums, I understood what they tried with RTP, but it just wasn't RED. I love that they're back with Rob Graves and hopefully stay with him for the remainder of their careers.
Thanks Andy!

Got ahold of a physical copy tonight, local Christian book store had them on shelves early for some reason. Great album, definitely one of their defining efforts.
Re: The Official RED thread!!!
I thought about checking out the Christian book store in the mall yesterday. They're good at putting Christian rock albums up early lol.

Maybe, I should head out to a Christian book store to get this album as well and pick up former WWE wrestler Shawn Michaels' new autobiography if they have it.

Still haven't listened to the album yet. Going to wait and get this at a best buy or when it becomes available via mp3

Same here. I'm waiting til release day. It sucks but I'm sure it will be worth the wait based on the reviews I've been reading on here.AllC392Was wrote:Still haven't listened to the album yet. Going to wait and get this at a best buy or when it becomes available via mp3

All right, Andy, I trust your judgment. You better not let me down on it. Though, as a guy that thought their last album had a few good decent songs, but knew that their previous works was so much better, I think I would be pleased when it comes out.

Re: The Official RED thread!!!
I've never really listened to Red before. Checked out the new album on Spotify. Totally not mine. I can't understand the hype. Skillet-ish bands are just totally out of my comfort zone lol.
Re: The Official RED thread!!!
I don't think this album sounds much of anything like Skillet though? They're easy to categorize together since they're both Christian rock, but that's about it. Some of RED's older stuff had some flairs of Skillet's sound in there, but not as much on this album.

Re: The Official RED thread!!!
Yeah I feel like RED is a lot more like a Linkin Park mixed in the Skillet (see what I did there?) with a little Breaking Benjamin. Absolutely love this band, but also, I understand that not everyone will like everything.

Re: The Official RED thread!!!
I hear more of a Breaking Benjamin sound than anything. Low tuned guitars with a deeper singing voice.
Just ordered a hard copy of the CD off Amazon. I think it came with a free MP3 download, so I'll check that out when I get home later.

Re: The Official RED thread!!!
Finally gave the new album a listen. It's definitely my favourite Red album so far. It's still hit or miss sometimes, but less so than on their older albums. I thought it started and ended really strong, but in between there are a lot of fillers. The outro was probably the most enjoyable piece on this album for me. Of These Chains was beautiful as well.
I really like the orchestral and electronic side of this album. It's just so cinematic and dramatic, and I can't help being entertained during those parts. It's definitely the side I like the most about this band. The "rock" side just doesn't really impress me. A lot of their riffs feel kinda uninspired to me. It's mostly the melodies and the chord progressions that I really like.
I agree there are a lot of Linkin Park and Breaking Benjamin influences (or similarities). I also hear a strong 30 Seconds To Mars similarity, mostly in the vocals.
