So the event suffered from a major lack of planning and organization. They advertised that it was for both people that were looking for romantic connections and people that were just looking for new friends. I was told that they would separate the two groups during the event. Nope. They divided the entire pool of participants, made up of way more guys than girls, in half and had us rotate and talk with about ten people. I only got to talk with three girls, and while I matched with one, I have no idea whether she was looking for a romantic partner or just friends. This is exactly the problem that I hoped I would avoid by attending this event. Also, the fact that each pair was seated very close to the two pairs on either side of us meant that everyone had a hard time hearing each other when talking. Overall, it was not that good of an experience.

You could reframe this as you got some good practice chatting with girls. It's a more positive way of looking at your experience.

My daughter got accepted to a business law internship in Prague this summer, so I've been doing Czech on Duolingo with the thought that I can parlay this into a cool summer vacation for the wife and me to check (see that?) in on her and drink a lot of Staropramen.

As you can see above, I'm pretty much ready to just melt seamlessly into the Czechia society.

No, she's just going because she can and it sounds cool (and it actually does sound like a pretty great opportunity).

And mostly because her parents are paying for it.


And I'm not getting a 500 error but when I hit submit the page goes blank and doesn't return anywhere. I don't even get the error message. Reloading the page seems to get things back to normal and my submitted post is there waiting.

I'm so sad right now. I just read the news, which actually happened months ago, that FivePoint Amphitheater in Irvine closed for good because Live Nation and the City of Irvine could not agree with who would pay for what when it comes to the venue moving forward. That sucks, it was a solid outdoor venue, even though it is placed in the middle of nowhere, and it had free parking and bands I liked play there often.
