USA Fall/Autumn Tour 2014
Re: USA Fall/Autumn Tour 2014
That was a nice ending, definitely should be considered to close out a set once.

I just think it sounds kinda childish. You'd expect something like that from a high school band who just started playing (yea, I've been there), not from a band like Alter Bridge.
It's no big deal of course.

I hope they keep Wonderful Life in there even if it's the LFW medly version. I'd love to hear that in a few days.

It's at least something a bit different, which means a decent amount with an almost static setlist.Timotheus wrote:I just think it sounds kinda childish. You'd expect something like that from a high school band who just started playing (yea, I've been there), not from a band like Alter Bridge.

I think this was a good first setlist for them. I think they will improve it obviously over the course of the tour.
I know Alter Bridge isn't about production but I absolutely hated the lighting in that venue from what I saw in the vids. Looked way to dim

Re: USA Fall/Autumn Tour 2014
The only critique I wanna give is that I wish they played the lead guitar part from the second and third chorus in Fortress. That part just makes the chorus stand out even more.
But again, that's just a wish.

I've no complaints, its probably the camera, everything looked fine from where I was, on Marks side.AllC392Was wrote:I think this was a good first setlist for them. I think they will improve it obviously over the course of the tour.

So for those that went to the Detroit show, how were the opening bands?

Like a Storm were really great, as always. heavy, down tuned sound, great melodies... They looked glad to be in Detroit.
California Breed were freaking awesome. The guitarist, Andrew Watt, is a pleasure to watch, he's so into the show the whole time. Glenn Hughes was pretty cool too, made it clear multiple times that his soul will always be in Detroit (rock city). I liked the music, sounded Zeppelinish at times, dug that.

Their setlists are always the same.
I don't get it. It's gotta be boring even for them after a while.

Re: USA Fall/Autumn Tour 2014
@chtimixeur they put songs on the set list they themselves enjoy playing live... so i doubt they will get bored by playing them.. as when they get bored by playing a song, they will simply not choose it, as they go over the set list each gig.

Re: USA Fall/Autumn Tour 2014
Thank god! What a special show that must've been! Before Tomorrow Comes is back! I really felt like the setlist was missing that little piece of overplayed history.
So in other words, they're bored of playing the new songs? Why should we even bother to buy their new albums if they don't even like playing them? They really enjoy playing the old stuff. The crowd really enjoys the old stuff. Its better for crowd participation. The new stuff like fortress, achillies, and waters rising, you can really see it means something to Myles and Mark. They don't really do much crowd participation on those songs and i think thats why. So they have to have old songs as well to balance it out.

Blackbird 8 - ODR 3 (all of these songs are on both LFA and LFW btw) - Fortress 4nickgordon wrote:They really enjoy playing the old stuff. The crowd really enjoys the old stuff. "Balance it out"
The only reason why the crowd reacts this way to those old songs is because if you type "Alter Bridge Live" in youtube, those are the songs you will find. They're "classics" because they've played them a lot. They're not giving Fortress the chance it deserves. In ten years it will be remembered as the album that contained Addicted to Pain (and maybe Cry Of Achilles).
