The Writing Thread
Re: The Writing Thread
I read the lyrics before your explanation and I got a different image at first. I love things with different interpretations like that. That's great when you can tell a story accurately, but not so strictly that it removes thought. Very nice!

Re: The Writing Thread
I mostly see my songs with two different concepts. One would be a story-like thing and then the other one would be the more general concept of the whole song based on the lyrics I wrote. It's more fun to have two concepts and, yes, different interpretations is very fun. It makes it very open to everyone.gbruin wrote:I read the lyrics before your explanation and I got a different image at first. I love things with different interpretations like that. Re: The Writing Thread
Off to write some, hopefully I make around 1000 words tonight
Re: The Writing Thread
I've got a new song cooking. It'll turn out to be called 'No Reflection'.

You can read my mind? Haha, the coolest MEGLADONG, Mr. gbruin.
You were almost right, there. There's definitely a mirror reference out there, but there's also a line in there that could be vampire related. But I think the song will turn out to be about not being good enough/being unnoticed.
I look in the mirror, there's no reflection
I'm dead, but I keep looking for resurrection

Macca, you're just brilliant. That's all there is to it.

This is what I call 'my 5 minute radio friendly song'
Drunk By Your Love
I love your eyes
I love your hair
I feel you everywhere
Doesn’t matter where you go
You’re always somewhere close
Baby, I love your smile
Just stay a while
I wanna look at you all the time
You’re the best thing in my life
I’m drunk by your love
You make me feel alive
And I know you feel the same way, too
Someday I’ll marry you
Oh, this is true
I fall in love every time I look at you
Drunk By Your Love
I love your eyes
I love your hair
I feel you everywhere
Doesn’t matter where you go
You’re always somewhere close
Baby, I love your smile
Just stay a while
I wanna look at you all the time
You’re the best thing in my life
I’m drunk by your love
You make me feel alive
And I know you feel the same way, too
Someday I’ll marry you
Oh, this is true
I fall in love every time I look at you
Re: The Writing Thread
I was debating posting any of this stuff, but what the hell...I write for a UCLA sports website, and in addition to regular news articles, I do a sort of op-ed column after every football game. There was a tragic event earlier this season when one of our walk on players was hit by a car an killed near his home during a bye week. It came out last week that he'd been drinking the night he was hit. Thankfully, he'd had the good sense not to drive, but no one knows how or why he ended up in front of a car while walking home from a friend's house. Here are the two articles I wrote, one after the first game after his death and the second last Saturday after we learned a bit ore about the circumstances.

Re: The Writing Thread
I guess it's hard to relate to what you posted, gbruin. I'm not a fan of football but I read the articles and I say it's beautifully written. I like how it feels different reading your post.
EDIT: I meant different than any other articles I have read which, whenever I read through some, seems soulless or has that "_____________" flow. No ups or down feeling.

Thanks, DivCruz. I realize that it really only speaks to that audience, and people here are probably like, "Uh, yeah, so...?"

Re: The Writing Thread
I kinda missed that post, but I remember reading an article you posted a while back about Alter Bridge. You somehow made a connection with football and I remember thinking it was really well-written.

Yeah, it does not connect to others but I love how it was written nonetheless.gbruin wrote:Thanks, DivCruz. I realize that it really only speaks to that audience, and people here are probably like, "Uh, yeah, so...?"
