The dvd is an hour documentary on the record and the full record taught by Mark and Myles - Solos - Fills - the works.
Im doing a full book for the record now but it will not be a full size book, the book itself will be the size of a dvd case and will be attached to the outside of the dvd case as the book is way to big to fit into the case itself.
Im taking a different direction on this book then most traditional books - Im breaking down each part and writing it out so its easy to learn and not just a full song on a few pages - like a work book...
Breaking the songs down to each part by each player... i think it will be cooler that way.. unless yall think it would be lame - in which case I can do it the old school way.posting.php?mode=reply&f=8&t=1578#
Thanks for the update Tim!
I'm not sure which way I would like it. I guess the disadvantage of your current method is that you can't play the song through traditionally with the book in front of you. But when I look at how I learn songs, it's part by part and just learn it all by memory. So I guess it fits your current approach better!
edit; I want this so bad... but I don't even have a DVD player anymore haha! You should make this available digitally! That would be great for availability across the globe and for the people that only have blu-rays or nothing at all... But I guess there is this thing called 'piracy', but maybe you can think of a safe platform to release it... It's just an idea !

Awesome, thanks for the update, Tim. I'm not a guitar player but this is a great thing for all fans of the band. Cool stuff.

Awesome Tim, thanks for the update! I will definitely pick this up once it's released regardless of the layout of the tab booklet, but the way you described it sounds like it should work just fine to me.
Re: Fortress - The Sound & The Story DVD (fret 12)
^Same! Thats how I always learn songs, so this is much better for people like me

Blu Ray could actually include the TAB on the disc itself too.austinjhnsn wrote:They should make this in Blu Ray.
Re: Fortress - The Sound & The Story DVD (fret 12)
This format is better for actually learning the parts. Traditional tab books work well if you're site reading the piece like it's sheet music, but what Tim's doing will help a lot in actually learning the songs by memory.

I'm still confused how it's gonna be layed out
Thanks Timo!
Re: Fortress - The Sound & The Story DVD (fret 12)
I think it would be like how if you put each guitar into Guitar Pro and you were to print them out. Or maybe one on top of the other. Like a tab. Not sure how the actual notes would fit in.
Anyways thats awesome.

That's pretty much how a normal tab book is though. Guess we'll have to wait and see, but it sounds like a very helpful method.
Thanks Timo!

I'm not sure exactly what it will look like, but it does sound like it'd be easier to learn this way. Particularly solos I would imagine. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

You should get into guitar man! Even just to play every so often, learn some the riffs on Fortress, its all really fun!
Thanks Timo!

I did try, man. But my nerves are such a bitch and I'm lazy
I play air-guitar, though.
