'Lover' Appreciation Thread
'Lover' Appreciation Thread
In my first listen of 'Lover' I was totally in loved with the song, I think it's perfect in every way, lyrics, vocals, instrumental, but a couple of days ago I notice specifically the lasts choruses, this lyrics:
'Now that you've gone so far, can you live with what you've done & who you are'
Now I can't get that part out of my head, it gives something special to this song for me, I can't wait to hear this song live (despite that Myles will not be singing that part)

Incredible song. Should be played live every night from now until the end of the world.

Re: 'Lover' Appreciation Thread
OMG I am so happy there's a thread for this track. Apart from ATP, this was the track I fell in love with first on Fortress. The beginning is so atmospheric and then is builds up to an amazing riff. The vocals are so calm to start with and then WOW. Listening to it through headphones with my eyes closed..... brilliant.
Would be great to hear it live but it's probably not going to happen (a bit like my favourite AB3 track WDTTW......) but we can live in hope

For all of the hope that it brings...

Its a damn difficult register to sing on. I love this register as well. I actually prefer Myles's lower to mid range much more than his highs. Of course when carefully used like those amazing Open Your Eyes pre solo vocals, they sound great.
Great song again.

I actually didn't hear that part until my 4th or 5th listen when I listened to the CD with headphones (HIGHLY recommended for this album, fyi). It's beautifully amazing...that whole outro section of the song is one of the best things that they've ever done, in my opinion.Felipesh wrote:In my first listen of 'Lover' I was totally in loved with the song, I think it's perfect in every way, lyrics, vocals, instrumental, but a couple of days ago I notice specifically the lasts choruses, this lyrics:

I didn't even notice that part til you pointed it out. I thought he was just harmonizing with the same vocals because I guess I just didn't care to listen to it. Good touch

I get emotional pretty much every time I hear it.
Especially at: "DID YOU HAVE TO THROW IT ALL AWAY! DID YOU HAVE TO SHOVE IT IN MY FACE! DID YOU HAVE TO TEAR MY WORLD APART!"

I liked the song a lot when I first heard it, but it just grows on me more and more with repeated listens. One of the best songs on the whole album and in my personal opinion, 'Lover' is easily the best ballad Alter Bridge has ever done. I love how poetic the lyrics are and how the song just builds and builds.
I definitely would love to hear more songs like this on future albums!

Me too.austinjhnsn wrote:I love Lover.
I also love the Burn It Down-type strumming to the intro.
