Bleed it dry I think would do really well. No edit the full song

As much as I want All Ends Well to be it, its gonna be between FttS and CaMFGDR. No question FttS is the way to go.

My vote is still Calm The Fire... The others are too 'generic' and will not stand out imho...

Agreed, the band needs to take a chance and release either Calm the Fire or Cry of Achilles as a single.fix wrote:My vote is still Calm The Fire... The others are too 'generic' and will not stand out imho...
"Do you believe in destiny?"
Re: What should be the next single?
After Addicted to Pain it looks like the most popular downloads on iTunes are Lover and All Ends Well.

If they wanted Cry of Achilles I'd be all for it, but the first 33 seconds would have to be chopped out (acoustic intro) and parts of the guitar solo would have to be, to get it closer to that line. A little over would be good, but I completely agree, that song could be legendary.
0-33 would have to go
3:50-4:01 perhaps
5:56-6:10 could go
Even more than that. It would make it really easy if they just nixed the whole second verse for the radio edit. It could be a really classic radio song though. Better than the rest for sure. It would just take work and for us to not freak out about all of the stuff omitted

Re: What should be the next single?
I really think they could pull off Achilles or CTF with an edit. And it terms of having that 'radio-sound' yet still pushing the boundaries just a bit to get noticed, those two are the clear favorites.
Wooo AB!
Wooo AB!
Re: What should be the next single?
As much as I love both of those songs... It'd be a huge risk if they chose CoA and CtF as singles, they would have to do some major cuts on them.
They should keep the heavy momentum going with the second single and maybe the third... Then release a ballad.

They could cut a part out of the intro, making it shorter. Completely skipping it would take away a big part of the identity of the song.AB23 wrote:If they wanted Cry of Achilles I'd be all for it, but the first 33 seconds would have to be chopped out (acoustic intro) and parts of the guitar solo would have to be, to get it closer to that line. If they really wanted to make COA a radio single and if they HAD to cut parts out of it, I'd cut out a big part of the part after the intro; just go straight from the intro to the 1st verse. That's like one minute. Then cut out the heavy part before the solo ("This is not the eeend"), and if they really wanted to cut more out of it, they could shorten the outro a bit.
Some cool parts would have to go, but at least the song would still sound natural, opposed to cutting parts out of a already short solo or bridge.
But I'd rather have them cut nothing out of it

Either go with the whole thing or don't bother in my view.
For all of the hope that it brings...

If CoA is the favourite from the album there's a reason for it, including the intro, length and twists. Why cut it up? It's not for the top 40 radio stations anyway. When I visit my dad in Miami the rock station plays longer Zeppelin songs all the time.Lotha wrote:Ubik wrote:Either go with the whole thing or don't bother in my view.
Re: What should be the next single?
All ends well, has mainstream appeal which people will eat up and expose them to AB!
Re: What should be the next single?
I don't know. They've tried that constantly ever since Rise Today and it never really did anything.
Re: What should be the next single?
True enough. It frustrates me how unknown this band is!Crumbso wrote:I don't know. They've tried that constantly ever since Rise Today and it never really did anything.
Re: What should be the next single?
It puzzles me when people say stuff like "people will get bored after that long intro", same thing was said about Slip to the Void. Do these listeners that we want to attract have the attention span of a small and easily distracted fish? Listeners that think Michael Bay is superb at pacing films? Maybe it's the stations that are at fault in presuming their listeners to be such folk and so wouldn't play it as much, but I don't think that's reason to pander to them and carve up something so good and fully formed.Crumbso wrote:If CoA is the favourite from the album there's a reason for it, including the intro, length and twists. No more radio edits!

Re: What should be the next single?
Too right. They're a load of bullshit. The stuff they cut is usually pathetic as well, something like 4 bars of a verse.Ubik wrote: No more radio edits!
