Rarities & B-Sides
Rarities & B-Sides
Just thought I'd post a collection of B-sides and rarities in roughly chronoligical order for some of our younger members and new converts.
Loadsa material here that you're not gonna get from just buying the albums. Please post any other rarities or noteworthy performances you may have. I know there are loads I missed out but I need to sleep at some point haha.
I realise the B-sides from more recent albums may be a bit suss but mods can feel free to remove the ones they feel to be dodgy.
DISCUSS! Some of their best stuff never even got recorded and seeing Myles on top vocal form in the early years. I nearly shit myself when they first played Buried Alive in the original format. I think the moment I decided against the current producer was when I heard he'd cut the song up... I like the album version but maaaan is that intro kick arse.

Re: Rarities & B-Sides
I believe someone said they'll release ODR sides later this year...
But don't hold your breath.

Re: For What May Never Come right?
I think you should also mention the ones we don't have recordings of such as Solace and the other ones I can't remember...

Awesome post. It's good to have all these in one place.
I'll add a couple more:

Re: Rarities & B-Sides
Man, I loved the Pinkpop version of Buried Alive SO hard. I was all disappointed when the album came out and I heard the new opening... I felt like Captain Jack asking "where's the thump thump?"
Re: Rarities & B-Sides
the alter bridge official wikipedia page states that the b sides might be released at the end of the year
Re: Rarities & B-Sides
Wow thanks abw1987. I've added those to the initial post now. Makes me remember just how amazing they were in the smaller venues.
Re: Rarities & B-Sides
Oh and here's hoping for Breath, Cruel Sun and Solace one day. Didn't we also hear about a Blackbird b-side that never came out as well? It was called Outright or something, although I think they said it might have turned into something that made ABIII.
I would give me right arm for a recording of On My Way Now. I don't think they ever recorded it though. I don't think Myles has ever sounded more beautiful, restrained or mournful. It's truly great.
Oh and how about that long note in Save Me? Woah I forgot about that'un.

I love the early version of Buried Alive.. Here's another video of it. Quality isn't that good, but I like this one better as the Pinkpop version

Re: Rarities & B-Sides
I'd really like to hear some AB demos, I remember hearing a different version of Ghost of Days Gone By which was longer, and Michael once said the demo version of Break Me Down was alot more aggressive than te studio version... And that live version of Buried Alive is so cool, should have been the studio version!

Re: Rarities & B-Sides
The solo by Tremonti on 'The Way I Am' by Fozzy is epic. I except the solo's on All I Was to be similar.

Re: Rarities & B-Sides
It's pretty cool to listen to "Buried Alive" & "Come toLife" for example, and see how far the tracks themselves have progressed...from the concepts posted here, to the recorded versions and eventually the evolved monsters they play LIVE now. Very cool, thanks.
Re: Rarities & B-Sides
Man I haven't watched those versions in so long, they're so good! The lyric in Come to Life remains the best. Buried Alive's just a beast. Ties That Bind was the only one that improved a lot in the final version, for me.
With On My Way Now - wasn't there a demo or summat recorded? Would love to hear that. Hopefully the b-side album/EP gets out eventually, I'd buy it for sure!

For all of the hope that it brings...
Re: Rarities & B-Sides
Myles is the one singing "I am nameless" and "I am faceless" in the chorus.foz wrote:Where is Myles on that Fozzy track? His voice is incredibly low in the mix.
Re: Rarities & B-Sides
He sings the "I am nameless. I am faceless." bits. This was recorded at the same time as ODR, in the same studio I believe, so it's very early Myles and a bit grittier. It sounds like he is singing both octaves you hear as well.foz wrote:Where is Myles on that Fozzy track? His voice is incredibly low in the mix.
Re: Rarities & B-Sides
I love love love the original. I was so dissapointed with the album version. It's still a great song but no-where near as epic sounding as it could have been :-(bbentley392t wrote:It's pretty cool to listen to "Buried Alive" & "Come toLife" for example, and see how far the tracks themselves have progressed...from the concepts posted here, to the recorded versions and eventually the evolved monsters they play LIVE now. Re: Rarities & B-Sides
I think they did a great job on Come to Life in the studio, structurewise. Shame they moved the 'I'm not your new messiah...' part though, but I like the studio version better than the old live version.
Buried Alive on the other hand was a beaast! Now we've got the melodic solo intro, which is also cool.. But the old version was soo haunting. If they put New Way To Live on the album, and this version of Buried Alive in combination with songs like Blackbird and Wayward One, the album 'Blackbird' would've been a lot darker. Would've been interesting!
