The Official CHEVELLE Thread
Any other Chevelle fans here? Fronted by Pete Loeffler, the only man with a PRS collection that rivals Mark.
(*On a side note for all guitarists* He deserves a signature model after playing them for 15 years...baritone of course. He's got 4 PRS baritones. I think he got the second one they ever made, the first belongs to Jeff Lanahan, PRS' artist relations guy. I think Mark used that on his solo album, it's blue from what I remember. Pete used it to to record Chevelle's third album)
Favorite Chevelle song?

Re: The Official CHEVELLE Thread
Oh yeah!! Chevelle rocks!!
My favorite song by them is The Clincher. I was kind of late to the show with Chevelle. I remember hearing Send The Pain Below on the radio back in 2004 I think, and I liked it but I never checked out their other stuff. Then in 2007 I remember listening to it again and thinking this shit really rocks and I decided to buy a couple CD's and that was it.
It was neat because before I even knew what the guys looked like or played, I remember hearing Pete's guitar sound, and I was thinking - boy I bet that is a PRS. It just had that sound to it. Now I have all their stuff, and hopefully I will get to see them live one day.

Cool, yeah The Clincher was the first Chevelle song I liked. They are great live, the shows are always full of energy. It's quite the experience being front row at a sold out show being blasted back by Sam Loeffler's bass drops.
I've met them 3 times. They're really cool, down to earth people. A lot like Mark, actually. It's nice when you meet one of the people you look up to as an aspiring artist, and they aren't a complete tool.

Re: The Official CHEVELLE Thread
I saw them at a free show back in march. The local college always has a huge St. Patty's day celebration and brings in cool bands for free. I got to see Janus/Middle Class Rut and Chevelle in a rainstorm with about 4,000 drunk college kids.
My wife had never seen anything like it. I told her if you feel something hit you in the back of the neck or head, just put your hands up and pass, lol. They actually changed the setlist up for us and took out all of the slow songs (minus The Red) becuase we were so rowdy. Great band. I have never been part of a crowd that was so wild. And that includes a few Sevendust and Disturbed shows, lol.

Re: The Official CHEVELLE Thread
I've always really liked these guys, and both SCI-FI CRIMES and HATS OFF TO THE BULL prove they can still take their formula and make it sound fantastic. Liked them since the beginning, but they've managed to remain interesting for years, which is not something I can say about a lot of bands.

Re: The Official CHEVELLE Thread
Interesting song. It drags a bit, I think, and it's lacking a really big chorus. But it's definitely different than some of the stuff they've been putting out lately, and that makes it a nice change of pace.

Really can't get over how good these guys are. Pete is one of the best at writing lyrics
And on Facebook they mentioned wanting a new album out later this year.

Awesome. I always have 2-3 new tunes to run to when Chevelle puts out an album.

I'm a late fan but hope I get to see them some time. I think years ago when I'd catch them on the radio on road trips, I thought some of their songs were by Tool (but I like them better than Tool).

Re: The Official CHEVELLE Thread
agny, you should hear their song "Clones." Thier response to being called Tool sound-alikes.

Oh, cool, will look that up. I think it's just some of the (musical) phrasing that's similar. They fit in with lots of other music I like. My local radio station (one of the best things about moving) plays them a lot.

Hope their next release is better than HOttB. Their first 3 albums are still my favorites by them.

Re: The Official CHEVELLE Thread
Clones is a GREAT song. My fave from the last LP
Re: The Official CHEVELLE Thread
The first time I heard Chevelle was on the radio way back when The Red and Send the Pain Below were getting heavy airplay on my favorite station (which is now no more). However, the first album I bought was Sci-Fi Crimes. I know it's not a favorite among fans but I thought it was great. I mean it was the album that finally got me to become a fan. I guess that's when I started to appreciate Pete's unique vocals. Anyway, since then, I bought Hats off to the Bull and went back for Vena Sera. Looking forward to their next album (whenever that may be)! Oh yeah, my favorite songs from each of their albums (that I own) are Brainiac, New Momentum or Highland's Apparition, and The Meddler.
