Summer 2024 Tour and Summer of '99 and Beyond festival
Re: Summer 2024 Tour and Summer of '99 and Beyond festival
I wish someone would tell stapp that on the album he pronounce "open" in with arms wide open as "opUN" and now he's saying "opEN" and it's bothering me
Re: Summer 2024 Tour and Summer of '99 and Beyond festival
It was an awesome show last night. Finger Eleven and Switchfoot were great - Jon even came down into the crowd and I held him up. Scott said close to 17,000 people. I was able to get right up front. Met some awesome people - Mindy, Trish, and Shawna along with Brandon, Noel, Anthony, and Parker. Bought a $45 hat and $45 tour shirt.

For the last 4 songs at least, definitely.anguyen92 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 12:18 pmYou think that's going to be the case for this entire tour? The best crowd I have ever witness that reacted to every little detail was actually from a Five Seconds of Summer show a few years ago. It's actually a really high bar to top that and to top my usual general enjoyment of AB shows, but I'm bound to have a good time at the festival in San Bernardino in late August. Just going to take a lot of bands outdoors, with I presume little shade, before Creed gets on stage.

You and the guys killed it. A sincere and well-earned congratulations - and break a leg on the rest of the tour! What a first show. I got sick (not Covid thankfully) but totally worth it.
Can't wait for the new Tremonti record and all the potential cool things the future holds.

If this is the level of criticism we're down to on this board, I'd say things are going pretty fucking well lmao.
Re: Summer 2024 Tour and Summer of '99 and Beyond festival
What kind of merch are they selling at these concerts? I need to know how much cash to bring or if they take card. Obviously I don't go to concerts often.
lol yeah im not even really being serious

The band is sounding good.
I'm so glad to see them perform in front of so many people. Good for them!
There are only two things that kind bother me.
1. Faceless Man's bridge
2. Stapp is saying Come on during the songs way too often.
It's not as bad as Myles' That's right, but it's still unneeded.

Looks like last show they dropped Never Die and Rain, and added Overcome and Beautiful. I'll take that switch.

Oh boy. I'm starting to get cold feet about the festival in August. I'm reading up on what the parking is like at Glen Helen Amphitheater and people are like, "You'll get out of the lot in like minutes if you leave before the last song is played. If not, you're going to be stuck there for hours after the show is over."
I've already had my getting out of a parking lot horror story in 2021 where it took me 90 minutes to get out of the parking lot after Foo Fighters was done (which had some construction in the area building a football stadium at the time). I don't know if I want to go through something like that ever again. Maybe Creed may come back in the LA area and play Hollywood Bowl in the summer of next year and where me entering and exiting the venue will be more easily attainable and fast.

was recently thinking about how i got a sealed "blue collar records" copy of my own prison on ebay about 5 years ago for $25
a few decades ago those would go for hundreds and it seems like they're basically impossible to find now
what a steal

Yeah, I'm looking at Yelp reviews on this venue. It's not looking too great when it comes to parking there. I'm not going to go through it. I'm not going to attend the Summer of '99 and Beyond festival. I'll figure out what to do with the ticket in due time.

Guys I don't really have a lot of time to post about it this morning, I can say more when i get home from work. BUT I will say that this was a 9/10 show. WAY better than when I saw them in like 2010 0r 11, whatever year it was. It's MASSIVE energy. You need to go.

I need to go? Man, I'm sure it's going to be great performance and production, and all, and if the SoCal show was in say Hollywood Bowl with a 3 band bill rather than a festival, I would go.nagpo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 6:19 am Guys I don't really have a lot of time to post about it this morning, I can say more when i get home from work. But, it's a festival. It will be a 75 minute drive east, in extremely warm California weather in those regions. There's 7 bands on the bill before Creed comes on stage and people, from prior experiences being at the venue, say the parking lot in that venue sucks and you are still there for hours after the show is over and I also got to drive 75 minutes back. I can't do it. Not really worth the headache of time wasted while Creed isn't playing.
I was actually in a similar spot when I saw AB in Highland, CA at a casino where it did took a good while for me to get out of the parking lot (since that was around the time everyone in the casino was getting out as well) and I was like, "Well, I'm not going to a show here for a good long while."

Well I cant speak for that particular festival. But I can speak for a relatively normal show.
So I'll give my review. They expected the weather to be bad so 3 doors down came out early. finger 11 was going to get shafted for time. 3 doors down let them on the stage so they could perform a song (to get paid). then 3dd came back on and finished their set. i dont really know much about 3dd and finger 11. 3dd was okay but finger 11 got everyone standing with their 1 song. i didn't really care too much for the openers.
my situation was that I was siting next to two obese people so it was tight and uncomfortable. but when creed came on everyone stoof and got excited. stapp said there were 1900 people there. it was really packed. when they first came on stage, because i was so close, it was really weird seeing these guys in person. like a fiction turned reality.
stapp was the highlight of the show. This guy commands the stage and audience. he has so much energy and is so enthusiastic. you can tell he generally loves what he's doing. he shares stories inbetween songs and has a good rapport with all the band members. his athleticism is amazing. His voice sound incredible too, at least in person. Everyone sings every word with him. when WAWO comes on and everyone sings along it's a spiritual experience almost. but he's not perfect, he does say "come on" a lot. he's a little awkward when trying to get the audience to sing certain parts.
Brian is amazing and loves what he's doing too. He loves the songs and the band, you can tell. He and stapp were talking to eachother about the goosebumps they were getting from the audience. they gave him some time to shine and it was awesome.
flip is the best drummer of the three that played that night. BUT they are playing the songs too fast. This will come up later. But he didn't miss a beat and you could tell he was tired by the end of the show lol. probably all the fire behind him.
Mark smiles the entire time. I think he's having fun. He has so many guitars. every song he used a different guitar lol. his playing isn't as good as it is on the records but still fun.
erock is unnecessary. the songs are not layered enough for a second guitarist and not complicated enough for one. it just seems like he's there to take work off mark.
mark gave away his guitar to a little girl. after the concert "my way" by sinatra played while we left.
they only played one full circle song, Overcome. Full Circle has aged well. Everyone sang along with Overcome. most of the setlist is mop and human clay. this is weird because they sell Time merch but don't play Time.
The show had tons of lights, fireworks, smoke. and pyro. when that fire hits i felt the heat. I sang every word and my voice was shot today, worth the $.
Con: I think the band needs to practice more. They are still awkward in how they finish songs and the pacing is too quick.

Re: Summer 2024 Tour and Summer of '99 and Beyond festival
Thanks for your reaction/review. I had many of the same thoughts. I would disagree on the song pace. I think they have actually slowed way down from 12 years ago. Go back and watch the AOL sessions from the 2009-10 reunion. Silly fast. I think slowing everything down gives Scott a chance to breathe. He always seemed out of breath even when watching the painful Creed live DVD. The songs have their groove back. Especially Say I and Never Die (which is my favorite Brian bass song). I can take/leave ERock. I'm grateful that he and Mark aren't doing the "let's solo for five minutes" thing. I think he does add an additional layer in his singing (What's This Life For) and can play the mandolin part on Are You Ready?nagpo wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 6:46 pm Well I cant speak for that particular festival.
