Well Im pretty sure that he has chopped it all off but its still funny
Thanks Timo!
Re: AB VI Speculation
Short hair Myles? The album is really going new directions. Oh, and the guitar he is playing might also be an indicator for some experimental stuff. On the other hand, I remember some pics with exotic guitars from the TLH preproduction phase as well.

I could be wrong, but it looks like his hair is just pulled back.

Re: AB VI Speculation
I thought he had cut his hair too, but went to Google Images to see if there is such an incident that had occurred with no such item to be found lol.
I think it might be pulled back as well.

Re: AB VI Speculation
I seem to remember that he often has it pulled back in the studio, but usually has a hat on.
What would freak you out more, skinhead Myles or hair metal Mark?

TLH is my fav AB album so for me thats the one to beat. The only thing i would change about TLH is to change Myles layered vocals with Mark harmonies. But as far as jams its TLH for me

Blackbird, ABIII, The Last Hero, All I Was, Cauterize, Dust and A Dying Machine all have HUGE production flaws, so there is a 95% chance AB6 will suffer from those also.MuffinMcFluffin wrote:Elvis, please don't fuck this one up.

Oddly enough, out of all of them, only The Last Hero was the only instance I personally feel where the production issues really reared it's ugly head. All of the other albums there sounds all right to me, not a bad track record.chtimixeur wrote:Blackbird, ABIII, The Last Hero, All I Was, Cauterize, Dust and A Dying Machine all have HUGE production flaws, so there is a 95% chance AB6 will suffer from those also.MuffinMcFluffin wrote:Elvis, please don't fuck this one up.

@anguyen92: you should focus on the drums, and especially the cymbals. They really sound awful, and I can't understand why Elvis is still unable to record them properly after so many years and albums.

Re: AB VI Speculation
Oddly enough, the only times I really found the drums really overpowering everything else was, as stated, The Last Hero. That stated, I couldn't really tell what would be a great drum sound. People, at the Dream Theater Forums, said that ever since Mike Mangini joined the band, their drum sound wasn't really of an optimal mix and I think general consensus was that they finally righted the ship in the drum sound on Distance Over Time, but I wouldn't tell much of a difference. Don't think my ears can pick up that certain amount of detail to really care to tell my brain that.

I think Elvis mixes accordingly with the band's style. Huge choruses, soaring guitars, loud drums. He's mixed Year of the Tiger as well and the production isn't that overpowering because the music isn't. If only AB could experiment with dynamics a little bit - we would have a bigger variety of sounds.

Re: AB VI Speculation
Honestly though, the worst thing about TLH's mix is just how harsh everything sounded. Tremonti's slick riff in My Champion comes off as a really hot capture, and Myles' opening words in You Will Be Remembered feel like there is clipping in every wave of his vocals. It just feels really straining, and does not come off as "clean." Combine it with everything else that is wrong with the dynamics, layers, and arrangements... and you have a dreadful sounding album. The songs themselves are mostly okay (some killer tracks, actually), but the production really brought the album down a large notch.Dolo wrote:I think Elvis mixes accordingly with the band's style.
