Honestly man, screw Slash. Their music is fine but he is messing with this band putting together another masterpiece (not another TLH). Please let that band end soon.

Fortress was written while Myles was working with Slash.

So wanting what Ubik states, which are quite interesting and awesome things that people would like from AB more often, makes them not a true AB fan? Who in the blue hell defines who is a true AB fan or not? What gives them that right to set these perimeters?jailman wrote:Ubik wrote:More Mark lyrics and vocals, more Myles riffs.

You know it's the funniest thing. My coworkers was shocked that I "swore" when I stated that a restaurant sucks in a harsh tone.AB4Lyfe wrote:GUYS!!!!!! Kevin swore.

Mmmm...peanut butter...
In Kev's defense, he did preface his curse word with a pretty color.

They need to stop overthinking it. Last Hero felt very forced. Mainly because you have 2 dominant personalities in the band who both want to do the same things.

Re: AB VI Speculation
I think he meant just too many clashing parts. There is no reason why tracks need like fourteen riffs going on at the same time.riemslag1 wrote:You mean the 2 dominant personalities responsable for gems like Blackbird, ABIII and Fortress ?

Re: AB VI Speculation
I'm obviously being facetious. The album was a wall of noise though. Layers upon layers of instruments and vocals, hardly a breath to be had. There was no reason for You Will Be Remembered to double-time its riffs during the verses and up the treble on the notes. It was grating.Ubik wrote:Which tracks are those?
When I finish hearing that album and Breathe starts up, I wonder what happened to their arrangements. They are overly complex/complicated for their own good. I undoubtedly love some of the songs on the album and acknowledge their gifts as musicians, but there are times when members can have moments, and this album loses that idea completely. It's not just about being the fastest or hitting the most notes, and they have shown us that in the past. I'd like to see that return.
Re: AB VI Speculation
I really hope we get some accoustic songs or intro's, and more songs a la Fortres or Cry of Achilles, hopefully they even record some more songs with an orchestra, or even something with a piano (yes I said it hahaha)
Re: AB VI Speculation
Simplify. I don't mean that in a structure sense, but in a stop forcing things sense. Mix things up, take risks, go progressive... but do it in a natural and organic way as others have said. Experiment but put a reason behind doing it. A lot of that has to do with the production/mixing too. I'm over that "wall of sound" stuff. AB is talented enough where they can easily shine without overlapping 15 layers. Blackbird is a perfect example of them being creative and epic but just letting the emotions come through in their playing. Let the music breathe.

I just want Myles to say "fuck" more. On the record. Let's get one of those cool "parental advisory" boxes on the front!
