The long time member

Post by claudiocc »

Hi everyone,
I have myself not been that much into the forum like in the past. But mainly because I saw not many posts are started in these last few months , despite the band being at its highest. Kind of disappointed of lacking of new topic I was just reading ang going
I don'.t know if because the long time members are gone ( things change in life since 2004 when we were all into this...13 years have gone by) or perhaps because the social network has changed, as the facebook pages and twitter of AB are quite active, and more direct and straightforward

I just wanted to see if some of you guys are still here, because for me the trip has not ended yet. It will never be, even the day when AB will be main stage at Download, or bigger than many other huge bands. DO NOT FORGET WE HERE TO STAY.
I Stay, so do you?

Come on, the trip of the becoming the best band in the planet is not over. Let's push AB to keep rocking hard. I would really love to hear the good old and new member if we believe they can manage it in this post.
What are your views?

^^ AB's been main stage at Download in most of their appearances (with the exception of one appearance) since 2005. Not yet headlining though.

¡Holá, Claudio! Que bueno verte, amigo. :cheers

(como siempre, me encanta tus fotos in FB. Necesito ir de compras otra vez...)

Hola Greg,
como estas? Great to see good old friends still here.
Muy feliz de ver que has contestado tan rapido lo que quiere decir que estas activo, como no?
I am heading for my 43rd AB gig next June, as unfortunately the Europe summer tour comes right when I am the busiest....
Actually I have not posted much in FB lately as I am awaiting to publish my photography book, right now under printing...Lot to come Greg...
Take care and let's push our mates here!!!!!!

Does...does Greg speak another language? Or is that all Google translate? Because if it's the former, I'm starting to think we're in the presence of some world-renouned mastermind.

Still here as well! Although admittedly I don't visit nearly as often as I used to.

I think it's a combination of a couple things:
  1. People who came of age during the ODR/BB days are now living adult lives with jobs, families, etc. – which make it difficult to spend time on message boards.
  2. As you mentioned, the rise of social media has completely changed the way information is disseminated online. Message boards don't notify you, and discussions are much more linear.
With that said, I think there will always be a core group of more dedicated fans who will continue deliberately visiting message boards and engaging in deeper discussions than one would have on Facebook.

Appreciate your reply abw87.
Totally understandable. Perhaps myself being already an oldie in 2004 ( 40y.o. then), did not change much for me, as my time was pretty much the same then and now. Actually getting better now, as I managed to get back playing guitars and drums after 25 years!!!!....well playing is a big word....precticing more correct

I grew up in California. Por eso, sí, hablo español.

I did have to look up seguir adelante, as the way I was trying to phrase it was too clunky.

I agree with a lot of what abw is getting at. TABN isn't buzzing like it did with Blackbird and AB III, but Facebook and IG and twitter and the rest of school media have ramped up in that time, so the amount of buzz is probably similar overall. But claudio is right (as always), let's keep screaming "Alter Bridge!!" from the rooftops and make sure our favorite band is getting its due.

¿Un libro? Increible. ¡Felicitaciones! Lo compraré tan pronto cuando se vende.

For those who do not know, Claudio is a world class photographer (in between AB concerts and professional auto racing). I have a few prints framed and hanging around here in Colorado. You can see some of his beautiful work at https://chico.smugmug.com. Check it out!

Professional auto racing, eh? I'd love to hear more about that :D Those photos are amazing as well. I've always enjoyed landscape/nature/weather photography. Great job, Claudio!

To stay on topic, I may not have been here as long as some, and I may not post very often, but I'm always listening to AB, spreading the word, trying to explain to my friends why they're so awesome, etc. I'm not going anywhere

Yo! I'm still around as well, though I'm not a member of the TABN team anymore. Strangely enough, I think I visit the board now more than I did in my last 2 years as a mod. I'm in Alex's group number one, especially with the family life. Recently got married and am now step-dad to 3 awesome kids, with my own first one on the way in August. I still wave the AB flag, but to be honest, The Last Hero hasn't captivated me the way other albums did. It's ironic, as I love the subject matter and their push towards more political / activist-y content, but I just haven't gotten swept up by it. Ah well.

Hello...sorry for the delay on getting back.
Thanks for the publicity Greg :cheers :cheers
And thank to Nick_917 for the nice words.

Yes,I have been working on racing car all of my life. With 27 years of Formula One, 7 of World Series, one of Le Mans Series, and the last 3 of the new Formula E , the full electric formula, which will race in New York, in Queens, on July 15 and 16.

And I can tell you there are a lot of AB followers in F1 as in 2004 I managed to get Metalingus like the "official" end of the event record. Was palyed as loud as we could when packing up at the end of the races

That is insanely cool. I try to keep an eye on F1, Formula E, and Le Mans. I'll definitely have to watch that New York race. Being from the US, I mainly follow NASCAR and IndyCar, but generally if it has 4 wheels and goes fast, I like it :D

It's also nice to know that F1 likes AB! They have quite a few songs that could work in a racing environment.

Any of the long time member was at the Download Festival in Donington? Incredibly so I worked 300mts away from the Festival in the last 4 years, but I could only attend twice. Not this year....and I am really bugged if AB performed well, but more than anything for sort of reaction no AB follower had , basically the crowd. Is importnat to know if they can manage to be headliner next time round ( 2019 I believe)...Because I read few reviews and the offical downnload festival site and reviews were not that good...

^^ Doesn't matter honestly. I mean it's not like it's the end of the world that if they don't headline Download. Would it be nice for them to play 18 songs of the usual stuff in front of like 60k people in a single show? Sure, but I think at this point, they are not really putting a huge priority wanting headline festivals over other stuff.

I rather they do more ambitious projects like the upcoming Royal Albert Hall shows with an orchestra. To me, the ideas that those kinds of projects bring always outweigh wanting them to headline Download.
