Saw Shutter Island for the first time recently! Not sure how I'd avoided it so long, great film and a lot heavier on the imagery than Scorsese's usual stuff.

I thought it was OK. Kind of predictable, but good.

Watched an 80s film called Testament yesterday, following a family in the aftermath of a nuclear attack.

Made me generally nervous about stuff.

It's interesting in that it all takes place in a normal suburban setting in the few months following the attack (with a bit beforehand), there's no crumbling ruins or roaming hordes to defend against, it basically plays like a domestic family drama. The difference being that the antagonism is coming from radioactive fallout and the first ripples that the downfall of civilisation would cause. The moment the nuke hits is both understated and startling, will say that. Left an impression on me anyway. Quite hard to get hold of though, in the end I streamed it for 2.49 on youtube.

There's a couple of UK ones that I need to watch, Threads and The War Game, that cover similar ground.

I'm now watching a 10-hour documentary on the holocaust called Shoah. Trying to cram all my loss of faith in humanity to a mere few days.

La La Land. Pretty great. I'm not supposed to enjoy musicals that much.

Watched the Breaking a Monster doc on Netflix. 12 year old kids in a metal band. Very talented. I would recommend it.

Lol. But on a lighter note, I may need to look at the tab for some Fuel songs. Trying to become a better singer/guitarist, and they have that strummy, chordy sound.

Had a re-watch of All the President's Men as it felt topical, it's such a good political thriller. Need to give the book a read, really.

Saw "Sully" about two weeks ago with my girlfriend and some friends. Tom Hanks was absolute class and I liked how the movie was done, although Eastwood did make the NTSB out to be pretty shitty when in reality they're only looking for answers after an incident and not in an antagonizing way as shown in the movie. Still, solid 7.5/10, would recommend.

---------- Recently I've seen the Kung Fu Panda movies, Sinister, It Follows. Resident Evil 6, Sinister, Indsidious,

Also, did anyone actually like Finding Dory? I keep seeing good reviews for it, but honestly, I wasn't impressed. It had some good moments, but I felt like there wasnt much character development or good dialouge. A lot of the film felt forced as well.

I watched Fences yesterday (my wife wanted to see it). I guess the acting and the filmmaking were very good, and Denzel was awesome as usual, but I really didn't enjoy it at all.
