Battle Of The Track Numbers: Track 13
Re: Battle Of The Track Numbers: Track 13
The best modern rock band (you have to agree with me at least slightly if you're on this board) bases a modern rock song on a classic Bach bourree and it comes out as a masterpiece. TLH is a great song, but I don't know how you don't vote for Wayward One here.

Yeah, no worries, Drew. Your blunder didn't have near the impact that Ubik's did.Timotheus wrote:Would be awkward if LMGO would win because of you, wouldn't it? Just look what happened last round... Nevermind...

I forget about the Bach connection with Wayward One which I absolutely love. Two months ago, this would've been a slam dunk. But right now, TLH against any song in the world, ever is going to win. I listen to it multiple times a day and am exhausted after each time. I've never felt this way about a song. It only solidifies AB as my absolute favorite band. That mantle once belonged to Burn it Down. That would be a tough choice. Yikes. Anyway, TLH FTW!!!

That's Ubik and I. Brothers in love of most things sci-fi. And brothers in epic fail. Lol.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go listen to Fortress 20 more times as penance.

I'm not familiar with this connection... are you saying it reminds you of something by Bach or has the band actually said the song was based on it?PRS10Top wrote:The best modern rock band (you have to agree with me at least slightly if you're on this board) bases a modern rock song on a classic Bach bourree and it comes out as a masterpiece. Re: Battle Of The Track Numbers: Track 13
Part of the song was actually inspired by a Bach piece. I'm sure someone around here remembers which one, but I'm drawing a blank. I've listened to the recording on YouTube before, and you can definitely hear the influence.

That's fascinating, no wonder it's such an amazing song

I typed out "you da man" and then I saw your username so I don't really know how to procede at this point.

"you da woman" is fine, though I wouldn't take offense either way

Speaking of Wayward One, here is a very nice acoustic version from 2007 :
There's something magical happening when they play their songs acoustic.
It's hard to believe they've never released an acoustic album yet.
I would also love them to write songs on acoustic guitars in the future, even if they actually record them later with distorted guitars. Writing this way compells you to write actual songs instead of parts, and this would be a nice challenge for them.

Oh wow! That was amazing, how have I never seen that before damnit! And yeah, I agree, the should do an acoustic album, or record one of these sessions for like Spotify, or the BBC or someone, anyone! As Shia would say, DO IT!chtimixeur wrote:Speaking of Wayward One, here is a very nice acoustic version from 2007 :

I've been calling for an acoustic Days of the New sounding song for the past two albums. Maybe next time.

I'd love for them to do an acoustic album. Mixing old songs and some new material, like that Sevendust record. One Drew Remains wrote:I've been calling for an acoustic Days of the New sounding song for the past two albums. Maybe next time.
Re: Battle Of The Track Numbers: Track 13
Well not all songs are nice on acoustics imo... I remember them doing Addicted to Pain for Fortress and for TLH they played SMAL on acoustics for (radio) promotion and I don't think it sounds good haha... Those songs, especially ATP, are meant for loud guitars.chtimixeur wrote:Speaking of Wayward One, here is a very nice acoustic version from 2007 :

Some surprise you though, like All Hope is Gone sounded great.
