2017 U.S. headline tour...........

Post by mradu1960 »

Certainly hope with the nice charting position in the US, that AB gets to headline some bigger places on their 2017 tour. I've had enough of the clubs, and hopefully they can move into 2-3K seat theaters!

I quite honestly like it when they play the clubs as opposed to the bigger theaters. As much as I really like to see these guys make a lot of profit and money on their tours, I like paying a relatively lower price on their tickets a little more. I've seen the prices of their Europe/UK tour and, yeah, while they are playing big venues there, tickets are a bit on the pricey end. Roughly around $45-55 and some areas like Poland and Switzerland is really on the high end (Switzerland is pretty expensive in general and the AB show there costs $75). Heck, actually, their arena tour in the UK is actually on the lower end (around $40-45) and that is a four band show.

That stated, I would have no problem at all if they played at the Wiltern Theater in LA again. Getting tickets there at a good price was easy and without a hassle. Found a presale code, got the best seats possible at a low price ($26.50 for the nosebleeds since I'm a 20-something year old guy that feels like my body is 50-something and don't want to stand for three hours straight). I would really love it, though, if they somehow played the LA County Fair in Pomona Fairgrounds since that's like super close to me.

In conclusion, I hope they play more of the same venues they been doing as of late. About 1500-2000 capacity venues, charge $35 for GA, set up VIP Meet and Greets, Guitar Sessions, etc. , but do that in a lot of cities in NA, and everything should be fine.

Yeah. They are prefect for smaller venues. Have seen them in 4 different venues. But a small one like The Pageant in St. Louis (1,500 to 2k) is perfect.

I think it will depend on the size of the market they are playing. My impression of their drawing power as a headliner in the states is that they are in between clubs and small theaters. I think in larger markets like New York, or LA, or Chicago they could definitely play small theaters (1,000-2,000 people) with no problem. But in a lot of the smaller markets, I feel like they might draw a crowd size more suited to a large club (500-1,000 people). It all depends on location, New York city is very different than Pittsburgh for example. So I think for them doing a large scale US tour that would be a mixture of larger clubs and smaller theaters would probably be the sweet spot.

This is assuming they actually do a proper full-on US headlining tour to support this record before they run off to Tremonti and Slash land...

As much as almost all of us here would love that, I wouldn't get my hopes up of it actually happening. They just don't have a big enough following here in the U.S. to regularly play venues that are that big as a headlining band.

I wish they'd cram into tiny clubs.

I've seen Creed in arena setting, Tremonti on his inaugural tour, Staind in arenas, Aaron Lewis in tiny clubs, the best shows are the tiny clubs where you're elbow to elbow crammed. Typically better fans at those shows too.

No doubt. The first Tremonti show I went to was in Chicago, and was supposed to be at the House of Blues (which would have been decent in its own right), but got moved to the Bottom Lounge which was a little hole in the wall in the middle of nowhere, right under the L. It was a bar, and there's a little stage in the back room where we all got herded in and cramped into, and it was probably my favorite Tremonti-related show I've ever seen.

Agreed that I don't want to see AB play an arena. Good thing there is like zero percent change of that happening any time soon in the US. Like I said before, I think they are at a place where they are in between clubs and small theaters. Either way it's a pretty intimate experience, one that's Myles away from an arena atmosphere.

Well then, back to the Wiltern, it shall be!!!! Maybe, the turnout in the balcony will be better (it was around 50-75% full when I saw them, don't know how full GA was). In either case, it was a nice venue for a band like AB to be in. I just wished I had better preparation with my ears that did not result in Myles talking in helium in between songs.

The Ritz in Raleigh is really cool as is the Tabernacle in Atlanta.
That's why I'm on the fence about Atlanta. Would love to see AB there
