Noticing The Little Things On The Last Hero
What are the little things you loved on the new album? The little details that not everybody might've noticed on their first listens.
Here are some of mine:
The Writing On The Wall: on 3:22 there's this delicious little bend in the background (in the right ear) while the lead guitar slides down.
Islands of Fools: 4:50 - I love the drums in this part. First hit: closed, second hit: open. Sounds awesome.
Crows on a Wire: Not that little, but I looove the drum groove in the second pre-chorus at 2:05

Myles going for it during the bridge of This Side of Fate... starting at about 4:20 and the high at 4:32. Probably the highest note Myles hits the entire album. It's obvious.. but great to hear

Crows On A Wire -
In the final chorus before the outro; Myles twists the melody so much it blows my mind
"Let this serve you as a reminder
Know they’ll never tire
They’ll come for you
Cause they’re still baiting to consume and devour
The glory and power"

I love the little trill Myles puts on the end of the chorus lyric "The symphony of agony plays on" in The Last Of Our Kind.
Another photobucket casualty...

Cradle to the grave!
In the chorus after myles sings "from the cradle to the grave" I hear an eerie kind of sound, not sure what it is but it sounds awesome...might be synth? If anyone knows enlighten me lol

-Myles roll up into the TSOF solo, and after that amazing vocal build up too!!
-The build up at the beginning of Losing Patience
-The various little beepy sound behind choruses, though they could be a little higher in the mix tbf (Still can't quite tell if they are synth or tapped guitar, but I am going with synth).
-When the bass comes in on YWBR (Goosebumps every time!)

And this bit also. Sounds like a low bell chime or something, like in TWOTWbenjoAB wrote:Cradle to the grave!

I love all the harmonics added to The Writing on the Wall.
It is a bell. Another over the top Elvis addition. I see its use in this song, as the tolling bell is a warning to mirror the theme of the song, but I think it's used way too much here. I think AB has used it once before but I can't remember where, which is how a subtle effect should be.The Plotblocker wrote:And this bit also. One of the solos (I think it's Poison) Mark does a back and forth like slidey bit reminiscent of Addicted to Pain. I like that part.
Altered:

I love any part of the album where I can hear strings.

All of the little slides and rakes in Myles' solo in Show Me A Leader. Great subtle touch
Re: Noticing The Little Things On The Last Hero
2 things - The smoking fast beginning of Mark's solo on Island of Fools, and on Mark's solo on Poison - how it fades into the right speaker, dive bombs and ends with those whammy bar hits.
Re: Noticing The Little Things On The Last Hero
Mark's solo in PIYV is the highlight of that entire song. It's fast and precise an soars! Great choices here so far!

Re: Noticing The Little Things On The Last Hero
Yeah agreed. It was overused in TWOTW, no need to bring it back again for Cradle. And yeah you are right, they have definitely used it before but I cannot think which song it's on. Probably something from Fortress though.gbruin wrote:I love all the harmonics added to The Writing on the Wall.

Another little thing I like is the rising pinch that bring in PIYV.

The Isolation-esq bends to the end of Myles' solo on Crows. Very similar.

Re: Noticing The Little Things On The Last Hero
How Myles sings fully in the rythm of the music/drums the little word «what» in the second verse of Island Of Fools. Perfect!

There's no recourse
It's only what you see and what you are
I know it's hard»

Hearing Randy Marsh shout "WOOOOO CHANGE IS COMING" everytime Myles sings the line "the change was gonna come...." in The Last Hero
