Well, at the end of it all, Mark is still the "lead" guitarist for Alter Bridge and his solo band. Maybe when Myles finally gets that solo album out, he may have some good fresh solos out.SHEAKENBAKEN wrote:
Sure it's not bad, but the guy barely ever gets a chance to shine instrumentally. I realize that it's completely up to Myles on what he does and doesn't want to do in AB, but having to always rely on old Cosmic Dust and Citizen Swing songs to hear that other half of Myles being used to it's full potential doesn't always satisfy because it's nothing NEW, you know what I mean? The Solo on Downfall is the best we've heard from Myles since Blackbird or maybe COA at this point like you said. While Mark has gone and done 30+ solos in songs since then. It's kind of unfair and imbalanced.
At the end of it, even though we all know Myles is a great guitarist, he still have to carry out his main priority which is vocals and lyrics for the two bands he is associated with. I mean, to some people, why should the vocalist of the band do guitar solos when you got Mark Tremonti and Slash on lead guitars? I mean I'm not expecting Myles to do guitar solos on a Slash solo album, and I think Slash fans would be disappointed if that was the case, since they want to hear Slash solo in all of the songs. I mean, for AB, it's getting to that establishment where people are here for the superb guitar stuff from both Mark and Myles.
