New Albums
Since it's rather hard to keep up with the immense amount of new records that come out on a weekly basis and even harder to find time to actually listen to the right ones, I thought we needed a thread like this.
I'm gonna recommend the new San Fermin album ("Jackrabbit"), which is streaming online (click). It's baroque pop at its best. Great emotion-laden rock, with glorious and operatic vocals, electronic break beats, horns, strings and a lot more. Songs I recommend: Emily, Jackrabbit, Astronaut.
The new East India Youth ("Culture of Volume") was released last week and is great as well. It's basically experimental, electronic synthpop. Really well produced, and really cleverly written. Songs I recommend: End Result, Carousel, Turn Away.
So my favourite albums of 2015 are so far:
Steven Wilson - Hand. Cannot. Erase
Nightwish - Endless Forms Most Beautiful
Kendrick Lamar - How To Pimp A Butterfly
San Fermin - Jackrabbit
East India Youth - Culture of Volume
Björk - Vulnicura
Periphery - Juggernaut (both of them)
Father Misty John - I Love You, Honeybear
Death Cab For Cutie - Kintsugi
Halestorm - Into The Wild Life
All of them should be heard

Re: New Albums
My top 10 favorite albums of 2015 so far:
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly (Conscious Hip Hop, West Coast Hip Hop, Jazz Rap)
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell (Singer/Songwriter, Indie Folk)
Enslaved - In Times (Progressive Metal, Black Metal)
Lupe Fiasco - Tetsuo & Youth (Conscious Hip Hop)
Björk - Vulnicura (Art Pop, Chamber Pop, Glitch Pop, Ambient Pop)
tricot - A N D (Japanese Math Rock, Art Rock)
Napalm Death - Apex Predator - Easy Meat (Grindcore)
Laura Marling Short Movie (Singer/Songwriter, Indie Folk)
Sleater-Kinney - No Cities to Love (Indie Rock, Punk Rock)
Marina & the Diamonds - FROOT (Electropop, Synthpop, Dance-Pop)
Most of these albums are in full on YouTube so check them out if you'd like. This year is shaping up to be great. Still plenty of albums I need to listen to/am anticipating for the rest of the year.

Re: New Albums
I tried this Sufjan Stevens' new album, because everybody is raving about it, and while I thought it was enjoyable, it didn't really stand out that much to me. I thought the non-folky songs were the most enjoyable.
Sleater-Kinney's new one was a lot of fun.
I tried Michael Price's Entanglement last night. It's an instrumental album. He's worked on a lot of scores for movies (he did editing on all the Lord Of The Rings movies I believe). If you liked Hans Zimmer's Interstellar soundtrack, you will like this one as well. Very dreamy, beautiful pianos.

The Winery Dogs is a good CD, from start to finish. Also really like the Farmikos CD.

Re: New Albums
Eaves (Joseph Lyons) released his debut album this week, and it's really, really good. It's been a while since I've heard such a strong debut to be honest. The guy is only 23 years old but he sings with the maturity of a person twice his age. It's singer/songwriter and the folk is strong in this one, but there's also a bit of grunge going on sometimes. It's all very captivating.
Songs to check out if you want to give it a try: Purge, Hom-A-Gum, Pylons

Re: New Albums
10 Years released a new record 'From Birth To Bural'- some of you may know them.
Not as catchy as their old stuff and also a bit heavier, but it's still good rock music.

^ I liked Luna and Ashes a lot. The closer was really nice as well.
Other Lives' new record 'Rituals' is pretty great. If you like Indie Rock I definitely recommend it.

Re: New Albums
Woo! New Noah Gundersen album in August he released on of my favorite albums last year, so I'm really looking forward to this one, especially since it's been only a year. A new song is up for a download as well if you pre-order the album.

The new Alien Ant Farm album has some awesome tunes on it.
Also listening to Young Guns. It's just a shame they remind me so much of the LostProphets....which is obviously a bad thing.

Anyone who is a fan of classic rock, needs to check out the new album from The Night Flight Orchestra, Skyline Whispers. Released today, like Cauterize.

Re: New Albums
^ I gave it a listen, but I couldn't really get into the vocals.
The new So I Watch You From Afar record is pretty good. Great sounds and vibes, and even though it's mostly instrumental there's some group chanting in a lot of songs. I think they do a great job at the instrumental thing without being too wanky. Favorite songs: Animal Ghosts, Run Home, Heirs.

Re: New Albums
I didn't really like Adam Lambert's new album, though there were a few songs in the middle that were pretty good. And that's coming from somebody who really likes his voice.
Will check out the new Young Bones later tonight.. Don't think I've heard of them before, and the stuff I'm hearing right now it pretty good.

I still have to give the new Adam Lambert album a listen. The 3 songs released first where okay, but they didn't wow me.
Listening to the new Breaking Benjamin album now.

Re: New Albums
Yea okay, I really liked that. I usually get bored with Modern Hard Rock really fast, but I thought this was really well done. I definitely recommend this album to fans of Red, Skillet, Breaking Benjamin, etc... I thought it had great balance between Hard Rock and Pop, which is often hard to find.agny wrote:Loving the new Young Guns album, Ones and Zeros, have it on repeat.
