Top #15 Myles Vocal Moments

Post by Roneit »

Hi guys,

I was gone for a while (well, not gone, per say, but inactive from the commentary zone), but today I decided to post something.

It is not news to any AB fan the BS commentaries Myles receive from Axl and Scott Stapp's hardcore fans all over internet (we could put some Led Zeppelin and Velvet Revolver fans as well). I kinda understand them, because I think I could not accept a different vocalist in Alter Bridge too, but, I like to think I can at least recognize a true talent.

Anyway, because of that, I always thought what those people would say if they could hear the best Myles can offer. I know they probably won't change their opinion, but at least, I would like to guess they would think twice before saying some BS again.

With that motivation in mind, I did the selection below. It is not a selection of the best melodies, but it's purely to show the power in Myles voice. Unfortunately I am not too familiar with the Citizen Swing repertory, so, if someone would like to share other songs that you think it could be on this list, please, don't hesitate. =)

(you did it right, you just used the wrong link - when you're on the youtube page, you have to click the 'share' button under the video and post the link from the box that appears with a weird URL like youtu.be or whatever)

It's a pretty sick vid man, I dig it. :cheers It's too bad some of the clips are from live shows with the audience but it can't be helped.

Also, hfs this thread wasn't made by Shea?!

Traveling Riverside Blues videos have tons of powerful vocal moments from Myles; ranging from A5s to D6s so that's a good place to start.

That Immigrant Song note that tops out at a C6 from Las Vegas 2013 is another one.

He hits a he pretty powerful D5 in Coming Home, IMO.

The Eb5 from Realign at the end is definitely powerful.

I'm so glad that you picked Reign Over Me as #1. My favorite vocal moment from him is still 12/31, but Reign Over Me is just so perfect :cloud9

And can you believe that it was an unreleased track on top of it? It gives me the goosebumps.

Wow, I don't have this technical knowledge =)
Maybe you could make a Top #15 Technical Impressive Vocal Moments. I could do the video to support.

What do you mean "technical knowledge"? Surely you're aware of most of his discography, right? Is the technicals the notes (D6, C6, Bb5, etc?) If you're planning on making a video for just a simple display of vocal power; I think it's pretty easy to just find notes on YouTube like I said; there's tons of them.

D6
http://youtu.be/lvj7NenZKv4?t=2m7s
C6:
http://youtu.be/kUdGbHb0nRA?t=2m11s
http://youtu.be/mC50usbzh40?t=3m35s
Bb5/A5
http://youtu.be/nsdjV04og5Y?t=13s
http://youtu.be/6ErPk4sHQV4?t=3m19s
http://youtu.be/C2EtqehxYpo?t=2m36s
http://youtu.be/Iu8EyOnh1Cg?t=5m35s
Eb5/E5
http://youtu.be/ufPSqjLi9RY?t=3m48s from here to the end there's more than just an Eb5 but that's where it tops out at.
http://youtu.be/zAbNiGfjVNA?t=2m36s

This performance of Immigrant song is definitely just a showcase of vocal power from 3:46 to 4:25

Yeah he means the technical knowledge of what notes are which and doing it by ear.

I only know if something is sharp or flat based on if it pokes me or I drink it.

Roneit, just check out this page if you want to look for his most impressive (technical) notes:

http://therangeplace.forummotions.com/t ... es-kennedy

Since I can imagine you'd want more than 2 songs in that video.

That's awesome stuff, Roneit. Damn, MK was so amazing on the Fallout album - I'm glad you pulled several from there.

I do think Lover (specifically the last whispered verse and the remainder of the outro choruses) needs to be on the list somewhere! Just too many great moments, I guess!
Another photobucket casualty... :(

I don't think I have the skills to look at this notes (E♭5, D5, C♯5, C5...) to make a list about it.
Also, I kinda didn't want to put live or cover performance on that list (apart of On My Way Now, but just because it doesn't have a studio version).

Lover is in my Top #5 Alter Bridge songs. Hell, probably it's Top #5 Myles songs. But it didn't have a vocal length as others on the list.

To be honest, I think my biggest mistake on this list was forgetting to include Mercy Rub.
