I ran across this acoustic version of "Is this the End" and thought I would share it. I had never come across this before. It has different lyrics and sounds different as well. I'm not sure if I like it as well as the original song, but it's really good.

Acoustic Version of "Is this the End."
Re: Acoustic Version of "Is this the End."
That was a radio performance..forget which one now it's been so many years, but that was the original version of the song. They changed it some when they went into the studio.
Photobucket cash grab.

In the studio versions it is (2nd verse):
The stains in the sky
Are their to remind us of man and his pride
When two worlds collide
One steals the life like a thief in the night
So look to the sky
He holds the keys for your life and mine
I guess these are the different lyrics:
The stains on his side
Cover the sins of mankind and its pride
That night he died
But rose once again to sit down by his side
He reigns for all time
Taking the keys back for your life and mine
Christian allusions happen to be much more obvious in this version.

Have a copy somewhere. This stuff was amazing. Still is to the day.

Yeah, you would think so. In the end we don't know.nagpo wrote:i see. he probably felt pressured to change them

Yeah, I know the other members of Creed always resented the "Christian band" label, so it wouldn't surprise me if Mark, Brian, and Flip convinced Stapp to change up the lyrics a little bit to that song.
Re: Acoustic Version of "Is this the End."
Well, it's possible he felt pressured, but not so directly. And maybe not even from the band. Who knows what the deal with this song was. I wonder why it didn't make an album.

It's a beautiful song, no matter what or WHO he is singing about. I have always loved the vocal melody in this one.

To be fair... without that pressure/request for subtlety... we get songs from Scott like 'Jesus Was A Rockstar'nagpo wrote:i see. he probably felt pressured to change them
