Kansas City (The Midland) 5/02/14

Post by One Drew Remains »

Myself and Mrs. Remains will be going. Four and a half hour drive, so we're having a KC weekend getaway. Anyone else coming to rock out with us?

Yeah. It's all standing but the top, I think. Pretty big venue for AB. 3,500 or so. Megadeth played there about 14 months ago, and I wanted to go but couldn't. Shinedown filmed their acoustic dvd there. Glad I'm getting to see them there.

We'll be coming into town the day of the show. But if you want to meet at the gig and rock out, let me know.

My brother and I are going to be there! I've been to 5 AB shows, but he has never been. So, we are going for the ultimate AB experience. Driving to Minneapolis from Omaha on the 1st for the VIP treatment. Then making the blurry eyed drive down to KC on the 2nd for round two! Can't wait.

p.s. Any decent priced hotels near the venue?

Everything downtown is kind of high. We usually stay in Independence and drive the 15 minutes downtown. So you're getting the VIP too? Maybe we'll get to meet up before the show.

My husband and I will be at this one too! We saw Stone Sour here in January. Gorgeous venue! We were in the balcony. Balcony sound is iffy in some venues, but I thought the Midland was pretty good.

jcrowe, I agree--every time we go to KC (Or St. Louis) for a show, we stay a bit out and drive. Downtown is pricey. We stay in Harrisonville usually.

I'll be going to this show as well. Second time seeing Alter Bridge (First was Rockfest in KC). This venue is amazing, I used to live near Kansas City, and this is by far my favorite place in the world to see a show. It's only fitting to see my favorite band in the world there as well.

What a beautiful theater.

I'm still hoping for some west coast shows in the fall, but if I knew for sure there weren't gonna be any, I'd figure a way to KC.

A few posts above, ODR says they take the seats out of the lower section.

Yep. The only seats that stay are the ones in the balcony. Everything below is removed. Here is a better picture:

Got my itinerary email from On the List today. So stoked to meet the band. If anyone in the VIP line wants to say hey, I'll be in my 2011 AB summer tour shirt with the Ghosts artwork on the front, standing next to a short blonde.

I'll be driving there from Manhattan Kansas by myself for the VIP treatment! I have an extra ticket if anyone wants to buy it!

Only a few more days! I can't wait to rock with the guys again. Have fun VIP-ers! I hope you have an awesome experience!

My husband and I will be driving up from Springfield as soon as he gets off work at noon...to stand in line. I am really excited to see the small changes they've made to the setlist throughout the tour. Hoping to see a bit of a different set than we saw in Dallas. Especially hoping Find the Real is in there.

I'm hoping for FTR and Fortress. But honestly, I don't care. I'm just ready to rock out on the rail (hopefully).

So excited for this show...this will be my 5th since the very beginning at the Beaumont Club in 2004! Already met the band several times over the years so skipping the VIP. Will be there with my guy who has never seen them and is insane for them. Thank god for good weather since we'll be standing in line for the rail, as per usual. Anyone from the original ABB.net days coming? And yes, no seats on the floor but easy to see over the bodies in front of you since the venue is 'slanted' like stadium seating in a movie theater. Whee!!!

The floor is slanted? Cool! I've been to the Midland, but sat in the balcony. That's great to hear because my husband and I are not particularly tall people. We'll be in line with you! My first AB show was Dallas last month and I might be even MORE excited about this one!

Drew, I too am hoping to hear Fortress as well. Saw in a review of Chicago night 2 that they did Slip to the Void. That would be sweet! I would love to see that song live!

Sorry to spew my excitement here. None of my facebook friends care (why wouldn't anyone want their news feed full of AB pics?) and I am so antsy to get on the road!
