uh, i think i was actually just dumb. the article says that the album "will be the follow up to Pawns & Kings" which probably is just them saying it's the next album after P&K. i read it wrong i'm pretty sure.Dolo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 10:38 amNever heard that. Around 46:00 - 46:25 Mark says how AB III is his favorite AB album and that Blackbird is their most important album. He goes on to say the new album will be in the same vein as that era of AB.

Interesting that Mark says they're doing something new with this album that's really exciting. Wonder what that is?

Re: AB VIII Speculations/Writing/Recording
He actually moved on from talking about Blackbird and was referring to bringing the moody AB3 vibe to the new album. I’d be very cool with this as love AB3

III
Also my favorite AB album for years
Those first 4 albums were pure magic
Would be very nice (as unexpected) if they were able to recapture that vibe (partly) of that era
Fingers crossed for that !

Brian and Flip take over vocal duties while Myles plays bass and Mark drums. Elvis will add harmonica and flute....RevenantGB wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:32 am Interesting that Mark says they're doing something new with this album that's really exciting. Wonder what that is?

Re: AB VIII Speculations/Writing/Recording
I was so ready to go ahead and not expect much for AB VIII and then Mark had to go ahead and say this in an interview with Loudwire. I can't imagine what this special thing will be to get excited for. I thought maybe an album where they record with an orchestra, but I would have thought that album would have came in 2019 on the backs of their Royal Albert Hall shows.

As much as Tremonti and Chuck discussed his new album, they also spent a little bit of time looking ahead to Alter Bridge's next record.
"Me and Myles [Kennedy] just got on the phone talking about all the material we have right now," Tremonti revealed.
"We're both very excited about it. We're doing something ridiculously cool for the next record that we haven't been able to announce yet, but it's going to be inspiring for us, to say the least."
When Chuck heard that, he pressed Tremonti a little more to see if he would share more specifics about what will make this new album "ridiculously cool."
"It's about the coolest thing you could ever do for a record as a fan of music in general. It's going to inspire us to no end ... It's going to be inspired by something really, really special. We'll be working on it in a great atmosphere."

So couple of theories…
1: Parallax orchestra is recording with them in some capacity
2: They’re doing the retreat style writing? Not sure if this is it, they’re so busy..

I hope this is the one. I dont think they need to "retreat" back to their older style.austinjhnsn wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 8:48 pm So couple of theories…

Maybe they’ll go Mastodon style and do a whole record where they trade off with vocals. Imagine a whole record like Words? Sheesh

Re: AB VIII Speculations/Writing/Recording
My guess is that someone special will be featured on it. It could be the Parallax Orchestra, it could be a vocalist, it could be a guitarist...anyone. That seems to fit the "coolest thing that you could ever do for a record as a fan of music in general" quote.

i thought he said it was something they were 'honored' to doaustinjhnsn wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 8:48 pm So couple of theories…

so the orchestra would make a fair amount of sense, especially with the mention of abiii specifically
Re: AB VIII Speculations/Writing/Recording
What would be the link between the orchestra and ABIII?
Re: AB VIII Speculations/Writing/Recording
That's what I was thinking. A collaboration of some sort.Addicted To Pain wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 12:47 am My guess is that someone special will be featured on it. Ok i wasn’t gonna post this but as you’ve mentioned it here is my wish list for the new album & look what is at number 1austinjhnsn wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 8:48 pm So couple of theories…

1. Record a track (or two) with the Parallax Orchestra, that night in the Royal Albert Hall was magic & would love to see some of that brought to an album
2. A long drum intro, kinda like the opening to Metalingus but hell make it much longer
3. Myles to duet with someone. A female singer like Lzzy Hale could be cool?
4. I kinda liked what they did with the synth keyboard stuff on Walk The Sky album (Pay No Mind & Godspeed), would love to see them expand on this
5. Love me a long AB song, lets beat the length of FOTSS

6. This might be way too much to ask but how about a double album, one disc of electric & another of acoustic songs
Any one else have any others to add?

Re: AB VIII Speculations/Writing/Recording
I agree with all except 5, I don't think they should have Fable dethroned that quickly. but I do think it'd be cool if we got a 7-minute epic on the album. another thing I'd like to see is another song with a super long instrumental intro (EX: Cry of Achillies, Show me a Leader) and another song like WDTTW, with both Myles and Mark singing with each other.Red_D wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:11 pm
