Listening Party Thread - Pawns & Kings
Re: Listening Party Thread - Pawns & Kings
When you say the back-half delivers - is that because you've already heard most of the front-half already, or is it just not tickling your fancy quite as much?
For all of the hope that it brings...

So glad you're doing this again!anguyen92 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 6:40 pm Yeah, I'll be there. Will be flying out of LAX in the late night. Will be in Orlando at around 7 AM. Hopefully, will be at the Beacham at around noon to wait in line. And hopefully, this time around, if the venue security is going to split the line in two, they will do it in hours advance so people can pick a line or divide the line properly so that the people that shows up early gets their earned spot on the rail.

I didn’t hear any songs prior to this listening party, so more of I just really enjoyed the back half of the album, especially Season of Promise.

I work with software developers. No understanding of what they do but the memes are good!

lmao, as a developer I can confirm.
Also (to keep my comment on-topic): Very curious to hear more from the party!

No in-depth reviews yet, no. That being said... Kev kind of got screwed on posting his so I await the re-return.

While I’m at at Vietnamese bakery eating some pastries and drinking a lychee slushie. I’ll try my best again with some song by song details.
Stay: it’s was hard for me to piece Mark’s vocals all night in this track and his live voice so not much nuisance to describe. It did have a Godspeed feel.
Holiday: there were some sections that reminded me of Coming Home.
Fable of the Silent Son: This may actually be the most unique AB song crafted. This is not your typical epic song in the veins like Fortress and The Last Hero. There’s not a lot of solos that the song length suggests. There was at least one.
Season of Promise: Tremendous song. I like it even better than Fable of the Silent Son. Feels like a much fleshed out version of Never Say Die. Very positive vibes with this one.
Last Man Standing: I think this had even a longer solo sections than Fable of the Silent Song.
Pawns and Kings: Best way to describe this song is that this is the right song that fits an AB title track and the album closer.
There’s more I want relisten to, but I’m pleased with this one. Even more than The Last Hero and Walk the Sky. I think they balanced the two albums better with this one without much irks I may have with the two prior albums.
