Burn It Down.

It’s such an underrated track, and a pretty deep cut. But the song is just fantastic. Can’t put my finger on EXACTLY what is missing, but it’s almost god-tier.

It’s actually such a deep cut I didn’t even consider it at first.
Good call - this would probably be my second option on this topic

Re: That’s right. It’s not French enough.

Hmmmm. I’m inclined to agree with you, but at the same time, it never gets played live or talked about much on here, so I feel like it’s not even close to God-tier.

Ignoring that, maybe if it picked up the tempo in a spot or two, that’d give it more energy and make it more memorable? I love the song, but it is lacking that je ne sais quois that’d push it to the next level.

Ok, hear me out. Your tier 5 songs I mentioned are like pizza in a authentic Italian restaurant. Beautiful, fresh, made with love. It's a nice place, you're there with people you care about and love. The other songs are like leftover pizza from the supermarket, eaten above the sink. Not a bad experience per se, pizza is good. Pizza is amazing. But pizza is not always pizza, if you know what I mean?

Can't get more detailed than that, I'm afraid.

To answer the original question. I think Blackbird is the only God-tier song. Maybe In Loving Memory as well, because honestly, that song is perfection from start to finish. I think Fortress and Cry Of Achilles make the 'aaaaaallmost might-as-wel-be god-tier' list. Slightly beneath in the aaallmost god tier I'd place songs like Bleed It Dry, Lover, New Way To Live, Watch Over You, Ties That Bind... Songs that are basically perfect, but somehow miss that extra ingredient to make it ascend the stairs towards Godliness.

In what universe could Fortress or Blackbird be in Tier 3, Brand New Start in Tier 4 and on the other hand, All Ends Well or Losing Patience in Tier 1?

We all know it's all to each their own and stuff but Fortress or Blackbird are objectively better compositions: epic in terms of vibe and structure, contain solos that blow your tits off, have iconic intro and soaring choruses.

I suck at these lists but here are some top AB songs:

Blackbird
Godspeed
Find the Real
Open Your Eyes
Broken Wings
Cry of Achilles
In Loving Memory
Watch over you
Ties that bind
Shed my Skin
Zero
Word darker than their wings
Isolation
Slip to the Void
Ghosts of days that have gone by
Island of Fools

Also, We Dont Care at All and Save me are solid songs.

I don't think anything is missing from Burn It Down. It's an awesome song.
