New Album

Post by AB4Lyfe »

I've been reading interviews of Mark's, ones where he was promoting his new solo record. The interviewer asked about the 4th AB album, and he said that they were going to start writing it in December, and have it out by the time most of the summer festivals begin. I would just like to hear opinions on how you feel about this, and if you feel they can write a quality record in that short amount of time.

I like Tremonti's solo stuff.
I have a feeling I'll like Myles' solo stuff.
I like Myles collaboration with Slash.
I'm indifferent about Creed.
I think Projected is cool.

But fuck, I honestly wish they would drop all of that and focus on just AB. This is one band with 5 side projects. I know that I'm going to catch shit from the Creedies on the board for insinuating that Creed is a side project, but I just wish they would just leave those other 5 bands alone and just do ALTER BRIDGE. Think how great of an album they could produce.

^ hahaha. There's no way they're getting rid of Elv. Im agreeing with all of the above. Im very pleased with Myles/Marks respective projects but I don't want it to turn into an every year occurance. Bring back AB man.

I miss the oldschool AB from 07/08. Total devotion for the one band. Not for 412341412414 side projects.

I agree that I'd like them to focus on just one project.. But that will never happen, and even if it did, what makes you think they will go back to being Alter Bridge full time? Myles loves being with Slash, Mark is enjoying going solo from the sounds of it and Creed are going well too.

I guess I don't really mind where the music comes from, I'd personally rather have all these projects giving us good frequent music, rather than just AB. In the past couple of years we've had Full Circle, AB3, Apocalyptic Love and All I Was, all great albums. Without all these projects it would have just been AB3. Even if AB did get together full time, dropping the side projects, I doubt their output speed would change dramatically considering there was a 3 year gap between ODR and BB.

Well, I'd personally rather have a less rushed AB III and then a great, inspiring fourth AB record and not have 'Full Circle' and 'Apocalyptic Love' ... These albums brought nothing new to the table, they are just nice to listen to.
I understand they need some side projects to stay fresh and inspired but these side projects are now taking more time than their main project. So - I'm asking: what the hell?

They were recording 'Blackbird' as if they were fighting for their life - now making a new AB record seems to be just another project they are about to do. THIS is what bothers me.
I know it's still important for them but it lacks the attitude they had, when they were less secure.

Btw: I've heard Slash saying there's going to be a short February/March tour with Myles, so if they would like to release the record in the summer 2013 instead of, let's say, fall 2013, they would have perhaps 3 months to make the record?
:/

Maybe it's not a matter of rushing, because they probably have all the ideas written up and they just need a few weeks to sit down, discuss them and do recording. Metallica recorded Kill'em All in 14 days. So what? It became a classic trash metal album ;)

And we might have another album made of long-collected pieces put together in a rush...

New thread = more excitement ;)

Na I dunno.
ODR was the first album..
BB was the album where they 'found their identity'. They took a lot of time on this one.
ABIII was the dark one, made in a really short time.

Each album has its own story. I hope they make something special out of the forth one, because otherwise it'll just be ABIII part II.
