I voted for "Solace". Ever since it was released, I've considered it one of their top-tier b-sides. For some reason it really moves me. Maybe it's the nostalgia of the composition and production, having been recorded with ODR but released so many years later: Mark's clean guitars, Myles's young vocals, and Flip's ODRish drums. The lyrics really hit home as well. "I pray my days will give me solace and I'll have faith." Can one wish for much else? To find peace and maybe have a little faith, whether it's in God, your fellow humans, or as Myles goes on to sing, "a better tomorrow, a better today"? It's a beautiful sentiment.
"New Way To Live" is close behind, with its creepy intro and such a powerful chorus. Last night I watched the NWLT performance on LFA and was really impressed by Myles's intensity. He's so chill on stage these days... I kind of miss the more passionate Myles of yore. I still love that they included a b-side in their set for that recording.
"Zero" is a solid track, yet one of few AB songs I concede deserves its b-side status.
