Slip to The Void. Cry Of Achilles has grown on me but I never got the full hype behind it

It's really good but many AB fans seem biased towards the band's so-called "epics." They go apeshit over anything longer than 6 minutes.

Show Me a Sign and Burn It Down hold no such place in my heart.

EDIT: Darn, SMAS is 5:57. Still, my point stays the same haha.

Honestly had no idea that Burn It Down is that long. Not top-tier AB but pretty good, and feels shorter than it is (which is always a good thing.)

Show Me A Sign stinks.

Cry Of Achilles is firmly in their top three songs ever, so it’s an easy choice for me.

It’s not even the length of the song that makes it so good, which I see a couple people saying here. The guitar work is masterful throughout the entire song. Myles has a really good solo and Marks solo at the end is one of the best he has ever done. As legendary as Blackbird is, I would even be willing to consider CoA as possibly their greatest song. I probably wouldn’t ever replace Blackbird at one, but I would think hard about it.

Two of my top 10 AB, and Slip to the Void is my favourite intro. But Achilles is just Achilles, which I love because of its riffage, insanely catchy chorus, two of my favourite solos, and a theme that to me calls to Sartrean existentialism. It being over 6 minutes does not, in itself, play into my decision making.

1) Cry of Achilles (easily top 3 AB song for me)
2) Slip into the Void (borderline top 10 AB song)
3) Show me a Leader (narrowly beats Ties that Bind because of the amazing intro and opening solo)
4) Ties that Bind (still a great song)
5) Find the Real (nice song with great guitar work but going against giants)
6) One Life (I wouldn't really count this as a full song unless they developed it more)

Easily Cry of Achilles. Although I do love Schlip and FTR. I'd go as far as saying I like One Life better than SMaL.

Bit unfair for anything to go up against Cry Of Achilles to be honest. I actually love One Life and would pick it over many other AB tracks.

... unsurprisingly! However, there's still a pretty significant difference to the last battle: Back then, FTR, TTB and Schlip all got 4 votes. This time, Schlip got a lot more love, comfortably securing the second place with more than twice the votes, even though total votes were down to 38 from 42.
