Favourite promo track?
Favourite promo track?
Thought it would be interesting to see, now that we have all the promotional tracks and juding by how divided the fanbase is over the new stuff. Please do give a justification as to why you've chosen a certain track!
My vote goes to Pay No Mind. Cool chorus vocal harmony, nice groove verse riff and haunting bridge part is what makes it interesting to me.

I went with Take The Crown. I like how the verses are presented and I thought this would be a solid sports anthem to use if the opportunity presents itself. Plus, I like how humorous it is with whole "So sorry, but you are going down" lines. No hard regrets, but we are winning this thing.

Pay No Mind without a doubt, it was the only song I loved at first listen.

Pay No Mind. It's the one where they're making the biggest statement, and it's the most memorable of the four.

Voted Take the Crown but have only heard two.
For all of the hope that it brings...

Pay No Mind. It's the one where I understood what they were doing with the synth and the more optimistic vibe on the album. After hearing it, it made WYR make more sense and gave me a new approach to hear the tracks released afterwards.

Pay No Mind definitely has my favorite chorus, but In the Deep has my favorite instrumentals. Tough to choose between them, but voted for the newer of the two since it made the better first impression on me.

Re: Favourite promo track?
Pay No Mind most because of its chorus, very catchy and different.
None of them had a big impact on me though.

Well that's interesting because I would argue that Pay No Mind is easily the least positive of the four songs.AngusWolfe wrote:Pay No Mind. That bridge gets kind of dark, as well. I remember commenting to my wife "Ya know, for an album that's supposed to be 'zen-like' this song gets kind of dark" lol

Re: Favourite promo track?
In a way, I think that's why. It's a bit of a bridge from the music they've done before to the music they're doing now.peapod0609 wrote:Well that's interesting because I would argue that Pay No Mind is easily the least positive of the four songs.AngusWolfe wrote:Pay No Mind. Re: Favourite promo track?
Take The Crown is my favourite thus far, but I have revisited In The Deep and Pay No Mind. Wouldn't You Rather is one which I'll listen to it if it comes up in rotation but I don't seek it out.
Re: Favourite promo track?
I’m going to give the nod to Take the Crown. I love the pre chorus and the ‘We Come To Life’ callback is awesome. Pay No Mind is just barely behind it.

Re: Favourite promo track?
"In the Deep" is my pick. I know it has been met with a somewhat mixed reception around here, but it has really caught my interest more than the others.
It feels like this song draws from a ton of different genres. The intro and outro parts with the guitar leads on top could be featured in a late 80s action movie. The main riff (intro & chorus) sounds like old school Ozzy or Maiden. The chorus melody could be out of a Coheed and Cambria hit. The verses sound like an early 80s power ballad with their gated reverb on the snare drum, the twinkling synths in the background, and oh is that a mild chorus effect on the clean guitar picking? Yet the bridge and overall sound still remind me of traditional Alter Bridge.
Genre-bending aside, I really dig the melody and musicianship in this song. It's really inventive and pushes their boundaries. Plus anything that mentions "time and space" will immediately get my vote.
