Still holding out for the "A Night with Alter Bridge" dream?anguyen92 wrote:I don't even think headlining Download is in their intentions when it comes to their goals. I mean would they want to headline if they get the call? Sure. Besides, them headlining Download would not be as cool as doing what they are going to do at Royal Albert Hall. At Download, they will be playing 18-19 songs and we all know what the songs are and it just would not be exciting. At Royal Albert Hall, they are playing with an orchestra and is contemplating playing some deeper cuts.
Honestly, I want to see them do more cooler things like what they are doing at Royal Albert Hall than doing the festival touring circlet (playing the same 8-10 songs) and really play longer shows in front of passionate fans rather than play to a mainstream market. If only they adopted the Rush mentality more.

^^ Yes. Of course.
For the most part, unless you live in Europe or the UK, the people that are going to an AB show are mainly AB fans in general that seems to be impartial to the opening acts. I just wish they do a tour where they play a longer set and incorporate the rarities that we really wish that are in the set. It doesn't need to be a permanent thing like Rush did in their tours 1996-onwards, but I would like AB to experiment with the idea. I really think it can work well and produce some great shows.

What I want to see is how this show plays into the future of AB. Meaning will this convince the guys to incorporate more of an orchestral element into future music? My biased opinion is that there is no better sound than really good hard rock mixed with some strings, so I hope they do.

Huh. I just realized. The bottom left of the poster they've been using to advertise the shows says "Future Song Foundation," which is the foundation to support music education that Myles is a part of. I wonder if any proceeds of these shows are going to that foundation? That would be cool. Another step in continuing to support music education to the kids and all of that jazz. Here's the poster again.

Headlining Download gives them a better chance to do things like the RAH show.

I wonder how their setlist is going to look like after the Royal Albert Hall? They keep playing similar venues/halls like the Usher Hall in Edinburgh for instance. But without an orchestra... Any ideas??
Re: Royal Albert Hall Setlist/Speculation
Kind of wishfull thinking makes me hope for a (partial) acoustic set, including the not so much played songs from the RAH gigs. Would be nice to see that in Groningen. However, maybe they should save the acoustic thing fot something special after the next albumcycle.PascalM wrote:I wonder how their setlist is going to look like after the Royal Albert Hall? Simon Dobson, the conductor of the orchestra posted an image on Instagram where we can see the setlist, but it is made very vague.

First one looks like Slip to the Void.

Relatively new here but from what I could make out after downloading the image, these are the tracks I could identify (the question marks signifying major uncertainty):
1) Slip to the Void
2) Addicted to Pain
3) Before Tomorrow Comes
4) Writing on the Wall (?)
5) Cry of Achilles
6) -
7) Fortress
8) Ties That Bind
9) The Other Side
10) -
11) -
12) The Last Hero
13) -
14) -
15) Waters Rising
16) Lover
17) Words Darker Than Their Wings (? - Judged only by the length of the title)
18) -
19) Broken Wings (?)
20) Blackbird
21) Open Your Eyes
I couldn't make out the rest, although I'll edit this post if I can.

That one looks like Fortress.
That's the best I could do with the most recent one he posted. Looks like Slip to the void, Addicted to Pain, Before Tomorrow Comes, Writing on the Wall to start off? Maybe someone else can figure out the rest. I think there's a Waters Rising near the bottom there. Along with Ties that bind, Broken Wings, and Blackbird near the very bottom? And I'm crossing my fingers for one of the longer blurs being Words Darker Than Their Wings.

Looks like the closer with be Open Your Eyes and no Rise Today. I'll take that. Open Your Eyes deserves to be the ultimate showcloser every night than Rise Today.
#18 looks to be This Side of Fate.

Re: Royal Albert Hall Setlist/Speculation
#18 could also be The End Is Here (or #13). Let's hope both songs get played.
I think the really long title isn't Words Darker Than Their Wings, but some kind of interlude before going into the next song. They do not have a song with a title that long.

When do you guys think they'll actually get to the UK to prep/practice for the event?

Re: Royal Albert Hall Setlist/Speculation
There's a 10 day period in between Sourh America and the first show in London. Maybe after a few days of rest, they probably rehearse with the orchestra for a few days before the show.

Let's pray for Myles not being so nasally. The more I listen to the O2 album the more I am disappointed by his performance.
Re: Royal Albert Hall Setlist/Speculation
Agreed. If there was ever a time to bust out the old-school vocals, the Amsterdam vocals, it would be at RAH.Mr. Slash wrote:Let's pray for Myles not being so nasally. The more I listen to the O2 album the more I am disappointed by his performance.

#11 it seems to have 4 or 5 words. Could be Words Darker Than Their Wings.
#10 maybe Wayward One (I really hope)
