Myles once told somewhere that they put out Metalingus for a couple of shows and immediately a LOT of fans complained every time they didn't play it. Hence, the regular seat on the setlist.
Btw, this song doesn't remind me of Creed at all. Don't see any similarities with the heavier ones of Creed. Beginning with the fact, that Scott's drums always sounded pretty crappy on Creed records while Metalingus has some amazing drumming.
Why is Metalingus played in EVERY show?

Like the song One Day Remains, it's the most un-Creedlike of the record.

Because the guys love playing it and love the crowd response whilst playing it...jailman wrote:I dont get the appeal of that song. To me it's just some ordinary fast song and as never a single. It isn't even one of my top 5 on that album let alone in their catalog.
Yet, EVERY show they play, whether its a headlining show, a festival show, or as an opening band, they play that song EVERY time.
Why? So many better songs they can choose from. Even just from the first album. How can you cut out Find the Real and Open Your Eyes (both great singles by the way) in favor of Metalingus?
Can anyone explain this?

Metalingus sounds very much like a Creed song in my opinion.

As for the wrestling thing, yes. The Tremonti family, in particular, have a few different ties to the pro wrestling world - buddies with Adam Copeland (Edge), which is how that whole thing got hooked up anyway. Also buddies with Dale Torborg, who used to wrestle as "The Demon" in WCW (a KISS tie-in), and is now a baseball trainer for the White Sox (Michael and Dan T live in Chicago).
And of course, this...

It also always "introduces" Scott Phillips. Sometimes the other members after. I'm sure Flip has a bunch of fun with the song.
