Favourite B-Side/Out Take
Title says it all, what are everyone fav b-sides and or out takes? I have set it for 3 votes each.
My 3 are as follows
1. The Damage Done
2. Never Born To Follow
3. Save Me
On the subject of b-sides, I recently but together my own album of them all, which I called "The Damage Done...... So Far". Here is the track listing order, which I think works quite well. If anyone else want's to put it together in that order and give a listen, I would love to hear some feedback on if you think the order works.
1. The Damage Done
2. Never Say Die (Outright)
3. Symphony of Agony (Last of Our Kind)
4. We Don't Care At All
5. Zero
6. Ahavo Rabo Taco Salad (Instrumental)
7. Breathe
8. Never Born To Follow
9. Save Me
10. New Way To Live
11. Home
12. Watch Over You (Featuring Christina Scabbia)[Bonus]

It's impossible to choose just 3. In fact, the only one I wouldn't choose is WOY ft. Christina.

I wasn't even sure I should put that one in, but I guess it is technically a B-side so that's why. I like it, but prefer the original.SHEAKENBAKEN wrote:It's impossible to choose just 3. In fact, the only one I wouldn't choose is WOY ft. Christina.

Outright, New Way to Live and The Damage Done, not sure of the order.
For all of the hope that it brings...

Translation: Blackbird is such an amazing album, it didn't have B-Sides - it just had 3 extra songs that spilled over the constraints of a physical medium . Those songs are A-sides, all the way.

New Way To Live
The Damage Done
Symphony of Agony (The Last of Our Kind) - (side note, which of these is the official song title?!)
All of those songs shouldn't have been B-Sides, IMO.
Home, Never Say Die, and Never Born To Follow are decent songs too I guess. The rest I have no real desire to ever listen to again.

Re: Favourite B-Side/Out Take
TBH, I am unsure on the official title for that one or Never Say Die. I tend to go with Symphony and NSD as I have heard the band call them that several times, but rarely (if at all) the other titles.VigilantSteve wrote:New Way To Live

I must say I am surprised NWTL is leading this. I like the song, but it has never leaped out at me as that special.

I think New Way to Live is better than half of the songs on Blackbird, and Blackbird is already my favorite album even without the song. The Plotblocker wrote:I must say I am surprised NWTL is leading this. I like the song, but it has never leaped out at me as that special.

Re: Favourite B-Side/Out Take
There is only one song I would replace on that album, the rest are perfect to me. But I would switch out The Damage Done for One By One in a heartbeat and never look back. How that piece of trash made the final cut over any of the 3 out takes I will never understand.VigilantSteve wrote:I think New Way to Live is better than half of the songs on Blackbird, and Blackbird is already my favorite album even without the song. The Plotblocker wrote:I must say I am surprised NWTL is leading this. Re: Favourite B-Side/Out Take
Agreed, it's a great song that could have easily taken the place of a song that made the cut.Dolo wrote:New Way to Live is one of their more original tunes, how the hell it ended up as a bside?
Re: Favourite B-Side/Out Take
New Way To Live is their best B-Side by far. It's even better than every single Blackbird song but Blackbird itself, and I have no idea why they didn't put it on the album in the first place.
Next two ones are Home and Never Born To Follow. Great B-Sides for an amazing album.
