Alter Bridge New Zealand/Australia Tour April 2017

For those that know, for the most part, the only outlets for AB to play shows in Australia/New Zealand was through being an opening band, as they did when they opened for Disturbed and P.O.D. back in 2008, I believe, or through the Soundwave Festival (which they did back in 2012 and 2014). However, the Soundwave Festival was no more due to a multitude of poor booking/logistic issues in certain cities/low attendance/bands weren't getting paid in past festivals/etc. Therefore, it was unknown whether or not AB would find their way back to the land down under.

However, they just announced that they would be doing a small headlining tour in Australia/New Zealand in April. Here are the tour dates.

I imagine tickets would cost at least twice as much as the typical US GA price since playing there is expensive, but since AB managed to book a couple of shows there, I imagine it would sell well enough at the price that is set.

Excited, though tickets are $90+ which seems a bit excessive. Hopefully there's other TABN members that are keen to go.

I'll be there..$89- $100 for any Overseas band in Australia is cheap as most big acts are usually from $150 - $250..
I live in Melbourne but will probably fly to Brisbane to see them in a smaller venue...
I want to do the VIP Package but they don't look like they are offered on dates past 2016....Anyonme know why ?

Still can't believe a band as good as AB are not packing big venues in the US. They seem very big outside the US in Europe..

Why are they not so big in the US ?

I think they mentioned that VIP for the 2017 shows will be updated in a few weeks or something like that.

As for their status in the states, they are decently sized in the US. Just because they are not playing Amphitheaters/Arenas/Big music halls, doesn't mean they are small. They are playing well-known venues like Wiltern Theater in LA, Playstation Theater in NYC (which they had sold out twice in the past, 2000+ people came to that). They are finally breaking through playing in Canada (Toronto and Montreal). Areas like Seattle and Chicago, the venue they are playing is larger than what they played in previous tours.

They are playing respectable venues (i.e. no crapholes) for their stature and tickets are more easier and cheaper to obtain compared to say Rush/Foo Fighters/Iron Maiden/etc. Just the way I like it for AB.

I believe so. In that case, contact Tim Tournier through social media and ask him about it.

They played in Auckland, New Zealand today. I think it's their first time playing as a headlining act in New Zealand as well. Here's the setlist. Nothing too fancy or new. Just pretty much what they have been rolling with for the most part of their shows this year. Five songs from The Last Hero as well.

The Writing on the Wall
Come to Life
Farther Than the Sun
Addicted to Pain
Ghost of Days Gone By
Cry of Achilles
Island of Fools
Ties That Bind
Crows on a Wire
My Champion
Waters Rising
Watch Over You
Isolation
Blackbird
Open Your Eyes
Metalingus

Show Me a Leader
Rise Today

I will never bloody understand why this band inexplicably removed TLH from their setlist. There is no explaining some of their decisions. It's the title track off your new freakin album man. Sell that shit.

Not to mention it's the best song on the record...

Like there is no explanation why they are playing only 4/5 songs of the new album.
Not to mention, they are playing the same songs of the previous albuns. Am i the only one who are disappointed with the setlists?

I'm the type that hates shit-talking my absolute fav band. And I'll go see them live no matter what! But, yes, I'm disappointed in their sets. I don't think they've even tried TSoF or C2tG. And The Last Hero should absolutely be in every setlist going forward. It isn't just the best song on the album, it's the best thing they've ever done. It's the culmination of all of their work from years and albums prior. I also don't think it should be an either/or thing with that and the IoF/TOS combo. Play 'em all God dammit!!!!

According to setlist.fm, the last time they played TLH was Houston, the show I went to. And I shit you not, I asked them in both lines, the signing and the photo lines, to play it and I really don't think they would've otherwise so I count myself lucky that I saw it. Possibly for the last time ever. Please AB, read these boards. We're begging you!

FWIW I think it's a good setlist, I do. But I think it could be 10x better.
