Any time I get up to the cities, and turn on 93X (or stream it), I swear I either hear something from a classic rock era, or The Pretty Reckless or Volbeat. Rock 108 in Waterloo (IA) is about the same, with the classic stuff, but they're also an independent station that's not run by one of the big media companies, so they play pretty much whatever.Vaux wrote:It seems rock radio stations these days are a bit of a joke. Then again, honestly I cannot think of one single rock/metal band that I like that has formed in the past 10 years. But that could be because every time I turn on the radio all I hear is Nirvana, Bush, and Metallica.
As for earlier in the thread... yes, payola is "illegal," but it's still the norm. AB are never going to find the mainstream upper tier success that bands like Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Chevelle, etc. get, unless they completely sell out to a top-level label and that's not really their style (I hope). I'd like to see AB hit more commercial success, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Still, it was exciting as all hell when Isolation got to #1...
