I was there in Bristow last night. Just wanted to share a couple things.

I understand that while their fanbase is relatively large, there's still a lot of unexplored territory and room for them to gain more fans by comparison to other bands. Just a fact. With that said, I for one as die hard fan found it a little sad they had to share a 6 song set with a group I would call just north of a laughing stock (Saint Asonia) <--- god don't get me started with them. Adam even said during the performance "how many of you went out and bought our album?.... okay, I counted about 14 or 15 hands. Look, I don't care if you buy it, download it, steal it, just go out and get your hands on our album". Those are words of desperation haha. But my opinion of them doesn't really matter. What matters is Disturbed will get people in the door and this will undoubtedly be a good gateway to get them even more exposure. The diehards will just have to attend to shows and show their support and swallow hard and accept they're not co headlining it like they honestly deserve to. Also, was it just me or did Myles look 'bored'? Something else that kinda bothered me last night was this. We were on the front of the lawn and there was a group in front of us that was in the back of the seated area on their phones, Facebook, etc.. and I"m thinking to myself.."want to trade spots you ungrateful ********?"

Alright, enough about that.

I thought BB were good, nothing stellar but good. Disturbed brought it per usual, the only thing that bugs me about their performance along with their show in Baltimore (which was a small venue) is they're hardly playing any of their new material. If you're a disturbed fan and own Immortalized, then you'll probably agree with this. How do they NOT open with Immortalized?

Also, fun fact. I kid you not. I saw a pregnant woman walking around with a tall can of MIller Lite. Yes, I'm 100% certain she was pregnant. People......just....wow.

EDIT: oh btw, for those not sold on the new artwork design, I bought the bird shirt, the new artwork really does look great printed on a black shirt!

There's that dreaded 'B' word again. :(

I mean...am I worried that he's bored to the point of leaving the band? Not at all. I think it's more of a look like "well, this feels a little lame". I was describing it to a co worker this morning and the best description I could come up with was one of the last scenes in the first Harry Potter film. The three of them are sitting at the table while they're doing the "house points" and Slitheryn is taking up a bunch of points and their sitting there with these semi pouty looks on their faces like "this is such bs, but whatever". It was like that, but still humble.. Make sense?

Cry of Achilles:

Never turn awee :lol

Blackbird:

At least this crowd seemed to appreciate Blackbird at the end. One small victory

What makes you say that?

I imagine it would be boring to play the same songs over and over again. It's like the 'resting bitch face' thing. Just cuz you look at a person and dont see them immediately smiling doesnt mean they are unhappy.

Were they on their phones the whole time or just every now and then?

Also probably bored of the lame crowd.

To be honest, a lame crowd is no excuse to act bored. It's the performer's job to entertain the crowd, not the other way around.

What makes you say that?

They've been headlining and co headlining tours for years now with various other bands, no reason they couldn't have co headlined this one. But I get it, both Disturbed and BB had monumental comebacks this past year.

^^ true.

The ENTIRE time. Every time I glanced over at them, one was on facebook, the other was on snapchat.

Hey everyone, I'm gonna disrupt the entire flow of this thread since this is my first post and wanted to say hello! I've been an avid follower of this site ever since the ABIII hype train was in motion, but with the new album cycle I finally decided to participate.

I was at the Syracuse show on Saturday and agree with what most people have said about it so far. I gotta emphasize that they sounded on top of their game, but there's no doubt that they just don't get the same crowd response as other bands (Breaking Benjamin owned the night). My friend and I sang along the whole time, but not enough to overwhelm the silence of the thousands of other people there :shrug

One funny note: There are TV screens all over that amphitheater for all the people in the back. Because of the setlist order, Myles and Mark basically kept alternating every other guitar solo and the cameraman had NO IDEA who to film each time, so you basically got to watch one of them awkwardly play rhythm guitar while some phantom guitar was shredding away elsewhere. Proof that AB is a dynamic band!

This. I've seen all 4 of the bands on this tour live before, and AB was the least enthusiastic looking honestly. I'm not saying they're boring to watch, but a lot of frontmen work the crowd more than Myles usually does.

Well, regarding the Myles' 'boredom', I've seen them once in Poland, at a gig which got a couple of tweets and Facebook posts because of how awesome it was. The audience were absolutely outstanding and the guys enjoyed the gig as much as we did. So juding from how the audience were reacting at the discussed show and the way AB approached it, a lot depends on the attendance.

All right, so how can Myles, whose seems very generally mild-mannered, work the crowd more without him looking awkward?

Welcome! Nice to get the perspective of someone who actually attended a show. It's always funny when the cameraman doesn't know who to focus on during a solo. :lol

He should just be more passionate. Look at the way he performed in Live from Amsterdam and compare that with the videos on last page.

European audiences tend to be more energetic overall. I think cultural differences can play a factor to some degree (I don't think AB has played Poland very often?). But I remember the first time I saw AB live was in a town that had a college. It was September so all of the students had just come back to school, and the crowd surfing and overall energy was crazy. About halfway through the show Myles asked the crowd to calm down. :lol Not sure what he saw, and I know safety is important, but it was kind of surprising.

Europe is definitely the better concert venue for most genres

That only suggests that Myles will enjoy himself better overseas.

I think, typically, from what I read during the Fortress Fall US tour, Myles seems to have a certain tendency to be more enthusiastic during an AB headlining tour (either in the states or Europe) as oppose to opening amphitheaters for a legendary band like Aerosmith or very popular modern bands like Breaking Benjamin or Disturbed.

The US sucks for rock concerts, compared to other places. If you go to Europe, they're better. If you go to Asia, it's outstanding. If you go to South America, holy fuck...
