He didn't say wee in Cry of Achilles!

EDIT - Ah dammit, just saw one of Blackbird where he did.

Honestly I'm barely even listening to Myles, just because those videos are really doing Mark's guitar some justice!

Being at the concert, I don't think I would have noticed the eeees if it weren't for reading about it here on the board.

Yeah I was at the concert and for the most part, I didn't notice the "awee" thing. Only one or two instances where Myles did that. I got the closest to the front I've ever been (only two people were in front of us) and this was honestly probably the best show I've seen from Alter Bridge. They were phenomenal. Myles was hitting some high and long notes, and there was a passion they had while playing that more than likely stems from being able to play in front of their biggest fans.

On another note, while in line to enter the venue I met a guy who went to the listening party and was able to talk a little about how the new album sounds and when exactly we would get a single. He says he was told we wouldn't get a single until September.

Overall, it was an awesome time and seeing my fiance smile as she experiences AB for the first time was one of the proudest moments of my life. Definitely don't miss the headlining shows guys.

it blows my mind that they wouldn't be playing a new song/selling the new single now (or within the next month) in order to promote the album.

I love this band so much, but I don't think I've ever seen a band marketed so poorly consistently

Sad But True. And wasn't Napalm supposed to help market them better?

It's just a month and a half, guys. It'll be alright. Until then you have like 4 & 1/2 albums (counting b-sides) to hold you over.

Nepalm is not their North American label.

They still contribute to marketing the band globally to some extent. No marketing is continental-exclusive.

So, anyone else on here planning on seeing the St. Louis show at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater tomorrow? I've never seen Alter Bridge live before, so needless to say I'm excited, even if they are only openers this time.

We're totally on the same page here, Monty. It sure seems like they are missing a golden opportunity, but I guess what it really means is they are just timing their resources for the European market. It would just make sense to be able to play a new single on this summer tour since they'll be in front of so many new listeners, but there's no guarantee that would lead to any radio airplay. Maybe without a US distribution company, releasing a single now wouldn't do them any good here, and they're focusing on a market that appreciates and supports them more.

^^ It's also to consider this. If people in the amphitheater shows are not reacting well to the AB songs that they could know, are they really going to respond to a single that they do not know at all?

Octane already talked about AB finishing their new album and doing this summer tour on one of their Hardline Reports. There's a market waiting for them, maybe not on FM radio as much, but those stations are pretty bad for any music released in 2016 anyways.

Well, if you worry about the fans that aren't reacting well, then why even do the tour?

The goal is to win new fans. Even one new fan from each show is a fan they didn't have before.

Truthfully, being an opener for co-headlining bands doing full sets is a lot harder than opening for a single headliner. AB is going on earlier and playing shorter and fans of the second headliner (Disturbed?) may not all arrive even during the first headliner's gig and so even fewer people will see them.

Awww, it's happening. They are phasing out Cry of Achilles from the condensed sets. Why can't these sort of crowds appreciate this 6:30 minute gem?
