Hey, I take offense to this!Dolo wrote:Wayward One worse than My Champion? Not their best but I still really dig it and its nice to have an upbeat catchy number now and again. For the record, I consider it superior to the following AB tracks;
We Don't Care At All
Break Me Down
Coming Home
Wayward One
Make It Right
Breathe Again
Life Must Go On
All Ends Well

I like the lyrics, but I'm not into the melody. That matters after all. These are songs, not poems.DonHarry wrote:Who could dislike BIT?! Such good lyrics, some of the best Mark's ever written imo. Wish they'd do more songs like it.
It's also overlong for me. For all 6+ minute songs, that's one that I did not need to hear for that long.
Oh, I forgot Lover. LOL now that I think of it they nearly start the same.

Finally someone that agrees with me!anguyen92 wrote:I'll let you to have your opinion, but I will also exercise my opinion that My Champion is not their worst song. While I am at it, I'll go ahead and state that I think "Shed My Skin," a huge favorite around these parts, is AB's worst song. Man, that feels good to get it out there.

Why don't people like Coming Home? It's one of my most-listened AB songs.

Coming Home is amazing. That bridge...
Never really connected with Brand New Start.

Also completely agree with this. Coming Home is one of my absolute favorites of theirs. The only part of Brand New Start that I like is the solo...the rest is "meh" for me.Ubik wrote:Coming Home is amazing. That bridge...

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Shed My Skin might not be THE worst for me, but one of the songs I like the least for sure! And I really like Coming Home!
I find myself singing Poison at random times during the day. I think it is really catchy! My coworkers are entertained by it (or by the fact that I can't sing at all...)

Poison for me is also growing with each listen. Happy with this song. This is my uplifting tune on the new album, much more enjoyable than Champion imo

Brand New Start is like the second song after Coming Home for me, love it to bits.Ubik wrote:Coming Home is amazing. That bridge...

Well, at least, it doesn't feel bad to be the only one that feels that way.

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
TBH, My Champion gets stuck in my head all the time now. Way more than SMAL or Poison. Not saying those aren't great songs, just that my brain can't ditch My Champion for some reason. Must be something to it.
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
I never got into the Coming Home, Break Me Down and Brand New Start (apart from the solo) trio. But they do kinda define that 'Blackbird' album sound.
On a side note, I read the track by track of musicradar (see that media/review topic) and the Poison chorus is one of Marks. No Myles-Slash input there... So maybe it's just the way he sings it that makes it sound kinda classic rock haha!

Shed My Skin means alot to me, probably more so than any other AB song other than Blackbird.
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
It was one of their worst sounding songs live. If they played it now, it'd be different. But back then, it was when Flip played way too fast and Myles sounded whiny. Not a lot of good live performances of the song.Lotha wrote:Why don't people like Coming Home? It's one of my most-listened AB songs.

^ Yeah, true, but the album version is perfect.
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Not everyone's opinion, I actually loved Coming Home live. I love Coming Home in any way it comes because it was the turning point for Alter Bridge back in 2007. It is an absolute animal and one of my favourites everAB23 wrote:It was one of their worst sounding songs live. If they played it now, it'd be different. Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
It's really interesting that Poison In Your Veins' legacy is quickly becoming "that one song that was supposed to be the lead single... and then it wasn't".
I'll admit though, I thought it was average at first but it's really starting to grow on me. The lyrics and energy of it really pick me up! Great for blasting in your car.
