Anyone know what the size of the poster is? (I think it's the same as the Tremonti poster) I'm finding that since moving, I don't have a tape measure...

Also, Shea killed a pretty decent post by double posting. Get yo act together Shea.

Trying not to get too excited over this. I got kind of excessive over Fortress. But man, it's hard when you read these forums. Definitely have to throttle back some.

And that got me thinking that maybe the whole album could be described that way. Go ahead and laugh; you'll see what I mean. Anyway this must be where the booze really started to kick in last night because my mind deteriorated to the point that I thought "heavy riff verse" was worth writing down. However I did also note that this song has one of the dirtiest bridges ever, and it uses a similar drawn-out phaser effect to the bridge of "Fortress."
Just gonna revive this, since we've all heard the chorus and another snippet from Amazon Japan. Are people getting the stripper/porn rock feel? :humina :humina :humina

Kinda sorta. The Poison in Your Veins chorus is probably the most notable instance I can think of where you can hear Myles' work with Slash influencing him in AB. The chorus sounds like something off of Appetite for Destruction.

The chorus does give that Slash vibe. The rest of the song could be very different, and I'm a sucker for 'dirty' bridges.

Definitely not a 'porn rock' or 'stripper' song...if anything, its political in my opinion

Oh it's definitely not anything like 'porn' or 'stripper rock' lyrically. But the vocal melody of the chorus definitely sounds like something Guns 'N Roses would have come up with back in the days of Appetite for Destruction. Not a criticism, just something I noticed.

Yeah I'd say it's got that 80's feel

I totally see where abdub was getting that vibe. It def has that sort of swinging super catchy chorus that a lot of those great 80's hair bands lived off of. I can easily picture some scantily clad tramp dancing around in a cheap video to that chorus. Fortunately when you get past that, PIYV has a lot fuller sound, more meaningful lyrics, and sounds much more musically professional that most of the 80's hair stuff.

I'm glad you've all been able to decipher my initial take on the song! :lol Obviously hearing it for the first time half inebriated in a noisy club, I may not have been able to properly articulate the full effect. (And by two days later, my only remaining memories were scribbled on paper.) By characterizing the vibe as porn/stripper rock, I was likely describing that dirty 80s Guns N' Roses feel. The stuttering character of the guitars during the verses; the nasty phaser effect; the arena rock chorus; the swashbuckling solo. I think you get it.

Swashbuckling solo...

I want to know how many times in Mark's life that someone has called one of his solos "swashbuckling". :lol
