Its not that we're proud of our country JUST BECAUSE of them. Its that we're proud of our country THROUGH their actions and bravery.
Yeah, guess I simply don't understand that. ^^ It's useless to discuss about it anyway, let's not turn this topic into something completely unrelated to AB. ;)
Weren't you the one that started it though? I'm not attacking you, just making an observation.

Many times on social media or just in general, people spout off misinformed "opinions." They buy what the media sells to them. Just like you shouldn't base an entire religion on a few bad apples, nobody wants their group painted with a broad brush based on the actions of some. No country has been perfect throughout history. Just like people who say they hate America but if they lived somewhere else, they wouldn't be able to speak their minds without repercussions. Here, you can do whatever you want.

Wasn't trying to derail the thread but wanted to weigh in. I'm not a regular concert attendee. I love a live album but it's virtually the same set list. With that intimate setting, they could have done some surprises.

I still would love, if it's ever possible, a multi-night event like Joe Bonamassa did where AB goes through each album or something. One night could be Mark & Myles going through an all-acoustic set. The next night, it's a a combo of ODR & Blackbird. The next night is ABIII, Fortress, and Last Hero.

I'd fork out money for the entire set of "concerts."

^^ I love that concert idea. However, since it seemed that they were really trying all they can to get the longer songs like Blackbird and Cry of Achilles right just for this listening party (and those were among the constant songs that were being played in the Fortress tour), it just looks like they cannot or seem very hesitant to rehearse all the songs that we can think of on the top of our heads. I just really wish they'd be more like Pearl Jam and just play any song they can think of on the top of their heads and nail it well in an instant.

Did anybody bother to find the similar thread back in the days of Fortress? it would be interesting to verify written notes from the party with the actual material.

Crumbso's post takes me back. Gah they were from August as well and I remember how long it seemed between then and the release.
For all of the hope that it brings...

Can confirm - this totally happened. The second he caught it he looked right at me, and my eyes have never been wider!

30 sec demo maybe!!!
Welcome! Someone asked this during the Facebook live Q&A yesterday, and they weren't really sure. They guessed roughly one month before the album is released, since that's typically when the preorders go up on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

LMAO!!! My wife reminded me of this on the plane ride home yesterday. Dude was simultaneously starving and on the verge of barfing.

AHart96 wrote:And THAT was the review I was waiting for. Words can't describe how hyped/excited I am for this album. The only part that had me worried are the terms "porn rock" and "stripper rock", but overall I am so pleased with what I'm reading
Ha... I knew it was a risk mentioning that in here. I don't want to give anyone the impression that there's any kind of sexual themes or even undertones to the album. Rest assured there's no Halestorm, Dark New Day, or Nickelback influence here. That would just be too cheesy (and as someone already mentioned, it's been tried unsuccessfully in "Dirty Girl" - lol). I was referring more to just how nasty some of the grooves and riffs sound. Trust me, you will not be able to resist headbanging... think "Farther than the Sun" for example.

Now THIS is how you describe a new song :D
Can you tell I was delirious? My mind has not stopped spinning since Wednesday night. I want to reread my review to edit out the stupid bits... but I'm a little afraid to reread what I wrote.
chtimixeur wrote:I feel for the fans who spent 250 dollars and got a boring and predictable setlist.
In a way, I understand why the band won't play "rarities" for big audiences, but the die hard fans deserve better.
How hard was it to rehearse at least 1 or 2 songs that haven't been played in ages for those dedicated fans ?
Why is the band so stubborn about their setlist choices ?
This is definitely a missed opportunity.
As others have said, I saw the concert as a bonus. They totally could've played the album and sent us home--much like the All I Was listening party--and that would've been super fun as well! Also keep in mind that the guys only had, what, 3 days of rehearsals? That's after not performing together as a band for almost 2 years. And tomorrow night they start their summer tour with Disturbed and Breaking Ben, so they're really under the gun to dust off the cobwebs.

The last 3 AB records have had "Making of:" Videos so I don't see why The Last Hero wouldn't get one. Even when Tremonti had the LP for C&D they still had those videos. So I would think it's safe to assume they would, IMO.

Yeah, I want a couple of teasers too. But being how low-key all of the studio updates were, I wonder if we'll get them.

Maybe they were low-key because they were filming for a documentary or pre-album teasers? Or maybe they're not going to be chill.

This was Alter Bridge's first official listening party. Plenty of folks have gotten early listens for the previous albums, but these were more one-off occurrences.
