AB Rare Song Gig, Crowdfunded By Us. Setlist Made By Us....?
I have had this idea for a long long time..
The idea is to crowdfund an Alter Bridge gig somewhere on the planet, consisting of a setlist that only contains songs played 50 times or less, according to this website, or ODR songs that disappeared from the setlists in 2007 when Blackbird got released..
Ideally, the gig could get recorded in it's entirety, as lots of fans would probably miss out on actually seeing the gig as it's a one-time performance. maybe FRET12 could do it? I have no idea about legal/rights stuff so correct me if I'm saying something that's legally impossible.
Thoughts on this?

^^ Man, that sounds a really really sweet idea. I would love nothing more but to have that happen. I think anything crowdfunded to support AB can be accomplished. If Sevendust fans got the job done to get their acoustic album out, I think we can do it. The question is does the band want to do it?
The 1st step to look at, though, is try to contact Michael and see if the band is interested in this project and if they are on the fence, try to convince them a little.

Well they already have 12 never-before-played songs to start with....That's enough for a setlist already
Peace Is Broken (never played)
All Ends Well (never played)
Zero (never played)
Home (never played)
Never Born To Follow (never played)
Never Say Die (never played)
We Don't Care At All (never played)
The Damage Done (never played)
Words Darker Than Their Wings (never played)
Make It Right (never played)
Fallout (never played)
Breathe Again (never played)

This is a really good idea. I would support this if it ever happened.
Re: AB Rare Song Gig, Crowdfunded By Us. Setlist Made By Us.
There are songs from One Day Remains and Blackbird they haven't played in years that I'd rather hear over something like Breathe Again though. Then there's all the unreleased bonus tracks like Solace, Cruel Sun, Outright, On My Way Now, etc. When they headline a show, they usually play around 18 tracks. Surely a bunch of us could narrow down a set list of 18 songs with a mix of old stuff and unplayed songs.SHEAKENBAKEN wrote:Well they already have 12 never-before-played songs to start with....That's enough for a setlist already

They might not be up for doing a set that long though. That's a good amount of material to have to relearn and practice up on.

Yes please. I would pay an absurd amount of money to make this happen.
Re: AB Rare Song Gig, Crowdfunded By Us. Setlist Made By Us.
Why not just fund a new album
or
with op's idea, have the concert streamed online as well for those that funded but couldn't make the show. Also, record the show and then sell it afterwards
or
fund them so they can get the cash to get their old songs back from wind-up
either way I have no job right now so no money to fund with

I thought of this one a while back and brought it up. Figured it'd be too expensive to go for, but it's worth getting an estimate for the figure I'd imagine.nagpo wrote:or

I think, starting to fund money for a concert where AB only has to play "rare" songs is wrong.
We're forcing them to play some songs they maybe don't even like to play, aren't comfortable with etc etc.
Funding money to get songs out, would be more acceptable to me.

I'm very critical of AB and their setlists, but playing a setlist made up entirely of all rare songs just would not work, it would make for a shitty setlist and the flow would probably be horrible. Not forgetting this is AB we're talking about, unless they've rehearsed the shit out of these songs, they'll be uncomfortable throughout the entire show.

I'd be happy with youtubes of a couple of rare songs spread out over the tour, lol.

Hmm I understand it would put lots of strain on the band.. There's gotta be a way to convince the boys to play some of these songs, right ?!

I'm also wondering what became of "Empty Handed." Google AB III whiteboard, and you'll see it on there.

For me, I just think it would be an awful shame if some of the songs that they rarely played or never played before that could really translate well live never make it to their shows moving forward.HappyHogJens wrote:Hmm I understand it would put lots of strain on the band.. I think Outright or Never Say Die would have a great energy live.

Maybe even make it less ambitious, I like the idea of a live feed that would last 30-40 mins with just a handful of oldies and maybe one unreleased. Maybe put some fan vids at the beginning during the build up or an interview w/ Elvis or something. I'd love to see a live version of Shed my Skin that wasn't shot on a potato.
I think YouTube has the option for live streams, could be good PR for the band and if we do a CrowdFund or Kickstarter, I'd chip in at least a hundy for it.

They're not going to play shitty b-tracks because their stupid fans want them to.
Re: AB Rare Song Gig, Crowdfunded By Us. Setlist Made By Us.
Are you calling yourself 'stupid'? Because it seems to me you are calling on all fans. Besides, fan appreciation goes a long way since, you know, 'we' are the reason AB can do what they do.Violent Corpse wrote:They're not going to play shitty b-tracks because their stupid fans want them to.
Although I don't necessarily need to hear the B-sides live (I do think they are inferior to the album tracks), if enough people want to and are willing to pay, why not? Never hurts to ask right? No need to get all offensive.
