If you could change the track-list(s)...
If you could change the track-list(s)...
Alright guys, thought about making this thread a long time ago but never committed to it until Shea reminded me of it in The Random Alter Bridge Thread (thanks buddy). This is probably lame and won't gain any traction, but I thought it would be interesting and get some activity going on the site.
So my question is simple: If you were in charge of putting the track-list together on all four AB albums, what would you do? Would you change the song order a little bit, give it a complete overhaul, or leave it as is? Keep in mind maintaining a smooth flow of songs and how well certain songs blend and transition together. Did the band do a perfect job with all four albums? Or is there some things (or a lot of things) that you wish were different?
The only rules are you can't mix songs together from separate albums (ex. You can't put Breathe Again on Blackbird because it sounds like BTC 2.0) and B-sides ARE allowed, but only ones we've actually heard (sorry C3PO, Solace doesn't count) and they are not required. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

One Day Remains - leave it
BB - Put CTL (Extended) first; leave everything else
AB III - leave it
Fortress - leave it
.... I don't like change ......
Re: If you could change the track-list(s)...
One Day Remains - Fine as it is
Blackbird - Have the order in the second half go as Blackbird, Watch Over You, One By One, White Knuckles, New Way To Live, Wayward One. Make Break Me Down a b-side.
AB III - Put Zero between All Hope Is Gone and Still Remains. Make It Right can be a b-side...could probably go with making Breathe Again a b-side too and having a 13 track album.
Fortress - Probably leave it. I think it and ODR flow the best from start to finish. And they definitely did right in making Never Say Die a b-side.

To get the ball rolling and make things interesting, here's what I would do so far. Still need to do AB III. Gonna need to sit down and REALLY think about it since there are so many songs, will go back and edit it in later. But anyways:
One Day Remains
1. One Day Remains
2. Find the Real
3. Broken Wings
4. Burn it Down
5. Watch Your Words
6. Metalingus
7. Open Your Eyes
8. Down to My Last
9. The End Is Here
10. In Loving Memory
11. Shed My Skin
Blackbird
1. Come to Life
2. Brand New Start
3. Ties That Bind
4. White Knuckles
5. One By One
6. Buried Alive
7. Before Tomorrow Comes
8. Coming Home
9. Break Me Down
10. Watch Over You
11. Rise Today
12. Wayward One
13. Blackbird
Fortress
1. Calm the Fire
2. Addicted to Pain
3. Peace is Broken
4. Cry a River
5. Bleed it Dry
6. Waters Rising
7. Fortress
8. Lover
9. The Uninvited
10. Farther Than The Sun
11. All Ends Well
12. Cry of Achilles

Re: If you could change the track-list(s)...
I like Calm the Fire as the opener there, Hartie. Didn't even think to dethrone Achilles as the first track.

Re: If you could change the track-list(s)...
Would not change any of them, except for Blackbird.
On Blackbird, I would swap Ties That Bind and Come to Life, make Break Me Down a B-side, put New Way to Live after Rise Today, and move Blackbird to right before Wayward One.

ODR: It's perfect as it is. In an even more perfect world On My Way Now would've been on it, and I would've put it in Watch Your Words' place.
Blackbird: Replace Break me Down with New Way To Live and One By One with The Damage Done
AB III: Replace Make It Right with Zero. Take out Fallout and Breathe Again. Maybe even Still Remains as well.
Fortress: Take out PIB and put FTTS in its place. The FTTS - CAR combo kinda slows the album down imo.

You want to take out Still Remains and Fallout? Dayum, ABIII would be only half as good without them imo.Timotheus wrote:ODR: It's perfect as it is. In an even more perfect world On My Way Now would've been on it, and I would've put it in Watch Your Words' place.

The only thing I would change about the Albums, is to take out "Peace Is Broken" out of Fortress. I don't know why, but I don't like this song that much. Never Say Die would be a great replacement.

Re: If you could change the track-list(s)...
Both songs have great bridges and some other moments that make them decent songs, but especially the choruses don't really work for me. Still Remains also sounds too much like Come To Life pt. II imo.Mr. Slash wrote:You want to take out Still Remains and Fallout? Dayum, ABIII would be only half as good without them imo.

Those riffs tho; and of course it would because both are the go-to riff-heavy drop-b songs every AB album has. Does FTTS sound too much like either of them, too?Timotheus wrote: Still Remains also sounds too much like Come To Life pt. II imo.

Re: If you could change the track-list(s)...
I only ever listened to the records from start to finish on the first listen.
But I always thought there were some weird listing choices. Like Burn It Down, Metalingus, Broken Wings... that doesn't flow too well.

Farther Than The Sun has its own unique sound. So does Bleed it Dry. That's the difference to me.SHEAKENBAKEN wrote:Those riffs tho; and of course it would because both are the go-to riff-heavy drop-b songs every AB album has. Re: If you could change the track-list(s)...
ODR - Switch One Day Remains and WYW because I think WYW deserves that spot more than ODR does.
Blackbird - CTL with the cool atmospheric intro thing they did back in 2007/2008 live shows will be the first song, Ties That Bind then switches places with White Knuckles.
AB III - Switch Still Remains with Coeur D'Alene and switch I Know It Hurts with Zero. Switch Fallout with Never Born to Follow and then have Make It Right switch places with Never Born to Follow.
Fortress - Switch Cry of Achilles with The Uninvited. (Imagine that f*cking blast of sound right off the bat!!) Switch Peace Is Broken with Waters Rising, then switch All Ends Well with Never Say Die, effectively dooming the record not to end well.

Re: If you could change the track-list(s)...
I would make AB III a 12 track album and leave off Fallout and Breathe Again. Maybe use them as b-sides. The album would flow much better going SMAS-Couer D'alene.

Re: If you could change the track-list(s)...
I say don't, don't ever leave off Fallout and I have made my enthusiasm of wanting that song being played live very well. That said, ABIII had a lot of songs to go through. Maybe leave off Breathe Again and Still Remains and that's probably it. Maybe in Blackbird, swap out Break Me Down with New Way to Live.

Re: If you could change the track-list(s)...
AB III is hardly a concept album.. The (loose) concept of the album wouldn't suffer at all by skipping songs like Make It Right. It would probably even make it better.
