Fortress is the only song I just couldn't figure out how to play. Those solos are amazing, can't wait for the dvd.

The only guitar I have is a 1950s nylon string classical that used to be my Grandpa Duane's, so I'm going to try to learn the Achilles intro and then just watch the rest.

Fortress (Can't play any of this cause no tab)
Cry of Achilles (Can play most of the song already)
Calm the Fire (No idea how to play this one)
Waters Rising (Can play all of this except the solo)
The Uninvited (I can play all of this one except the weird intro.)

Those 5 songs are my absolute favorites, so I'm really excited to learn them all the way through.

I can't play guitar but I hope my husband will try to learn something new. I'm tired of listening him playing Metallica, Amorphis, Opeth etc. And who knows if I want to sacrifice my long finger nails and start taking guitar lessons from my husband.. The training material is at least awesome :lol

I chose the last option because that would be my main interest. But this does not mean I won't be seeing every guitar lesson multiple times. :lol

AHart96 wrote:Alright, time to answer my own question. My twin and I are gonna learn these together, me mostly taking Mark's parts and him taking Myles'. Eventually I'll learn Myles' solos too, but to start I'm only learning my half so we can get covers up quickly.

1. Cry of Achilles. Beyond excited to learn Mark's solo, probably my favorite on the album behind Bleed it Dry's. Also wanna learn the fingerpicked 2nd half of the verses and pre-chorus, along with the chorus so the guitar covers my awful voice belting the lyrics :headbang

2. Fortress. Excited to learn Mark's two solos as well as the monster instrumental section starting after the bridge. You know what I'm talking about

3. Calm the Fire. I gotta learn my 2nd favorite song on the album. Love the 80's classic rock feel to it

4. Bleed it Dry. Excited to learn the sledgehammer main/chorus riff, Myles' "expensive" jazz chords in the bridge and Mark's bluesy solo

5. Waters Rising. Mark's cool fingerpicked intro/verse riff, heavy pre-chorus riff, and that doomy, monster bridge.

6. Addicted to Pain. Both of the killer riffs (intro/verse/bridge), Mark's octave filled chorus chords, and the thrash solo

7. Peace is Broken. Ridiculous intro riff and the melodic solo

8. The Uninvited. Stoner fingerpicked intro, Tool-ish riff, and crazy breakdown

9. Cry a River. Sick intro riff and melodic solo

10. Farther Than the Sun
11. Lover
12. All Ends Well
Pretty much my exact list for the exact reasons

I strung my PRS with new strings and they work great in both Eb and Drop C# so I'm gonna check out more songs. Really looking forward to learning Peace is Broken solo, Waters Rising prechorus riff, Cry a River and Fortress.

:yeahthat I put the Tremonti custom string pack on my PRS and regular set of D'Addario's on my Epiphone and had the PRS set up for Db and the Epiphone for Open D5 half-step down. Gonna be splitting my time right off the bat with Cry of Achilles and Fortress. Don't wanna touch either guitar until I get it Saturday

What strings gauges do you use on these?

On the PRS I use a set of 11s on the bottom 3 strings and a set of 10s on the top 3. On the Epiphone I just put on a set of 10s

I use a set of 10s on the bottom 3 strings and a set of 9s on the top 3 for Drop C#/Standard Eb, I don't like thick strings :P

I only like thicker strings on the bottom 3 strings to give me heavier tone :P No way I would put 11s on top, would be damn near impossible to play leads with them

I just use straight 10s on my SE. They're thick enough for Eb and C# for my tastes.
