Great performance indeed and a great video as well. But there was some criticism on the choice of the song in the comments section of the video(Not without the expected backlash by the rest of the fans though).

I did read some of those comments below the video and a lot of them were critical about them using Rise Today during a promotional tour for Fortress. I don't mind it but I would focus on Fortress material.

Interesting track listing for "The Story So Far". I don't know... it doesn't really make me jump to want to buy it but good job for advertising!

I get the complaints about using Rise Today to promote Fortress but they want the album to be a surprise and I can appreciate that. The excitement has been so high around here because we haven't heard anything other than ATP and the short The Uninvited video. Although we would all love to hear as much as we can right now, the wait will make finally hearing the album much more satisfying. Besides they did ATP acoustically once and while it was a good performance, it's not the best song to perform acoustically in my opinion. The people complaining will appreciate when they hear the Fortress songs much more than they would have had they heard them live or whatever prior to having the album.

They need to pick a song that the public in general are familiar with. Rise Today is definitely the most popular song in their catalog, more so since that is the song that Slash/Myles used to play regularly when they first began touring.

And on an unrelated note, I think we have to thank the Myles/Slash collaboration for the Classic Rock coverage. I can totally understand getting on the cover , but a compilation disc ? Now that is not an easy feat.

Metalingus is probably more widely known than Rise Today, I'd say ^

... But on acoustic? Haha..

No.

I think the public would know Open Your Eyes better than any other AB song. But Rise Today is cool. No complaints here

Is Rise Today really that popular or is it just the song that's been most thrown at us over the years? I don't ever really hear people naming it as their favourite song of AB.

It just comes off well acoustically and they can't play anything new other than Addicted to Pain. All Hope Is Gone was really good, but as it wasn't a single they're probably trying to push the more well-known option. Even if it is 6 years old.
For all of the hope that it brings...

It's not my all time favorite but it's the best Rock anthem I've heard in the past 10 years from any band. Incredible lyrics as well.

I agree about it being the best rock anthem in the past decade, and I can also see why it's not everyone's favorite. It just happens to be my personal favorite because it's the song that really first introduced me to Alter Bridge. However, it's definitely not their BEST song (we all know which one that is)

If you ask me, i'd prefer they did Burn it Down or Wayward One. Or maybe give Blackbird a shot on acoustic. Mark would have to change up his solo though.
