That's funny. I was making an AB playlist a few days ago and tried to limit it to 10-12 songs. In the end I had 16 songs left and couldn't eliminate any more songs.
The thought of making a top 5 seems emotionally fatiguing to me.

1-4 came together pretty fast, but I contemplated tons of songs for the 5 spot. Ultimately went with Broken Wings because it probably has my favorite guitar intro Mark has ever written. White Knuckles was the hardest to leave out just for its lyrics and raw energy. Plus, that's about the best song I've ever witnessed from a pit haha.

I almost included this too because of how amazing it is acoustically. The CD version doesn't do quite as much for me though, but at its core it's a great track.

1. On My Way Now - I know it was never officially released, but that one video camera recording, even with the obnoxious whistling and the "sit your ass down!", I still keep coming back to and back to and back to. Something about the melody, the guitar, the way Myles sings it, the simple conga drum rhythm, everything comes together to punch me in the gut every time.

2. Blackbird - the opus. The song these guys were born to write. The best guitar solos since November Rain. Intense, personal, but relatable and beautiful lyrics. This song, like Lex Luger, is the total package.

3. Life Must Go On - Another of those punches to the gut. It's funny how music can do that, how the right combinations of notes and chords can just make you feel like the bottom fell out of you, and this wave of feels crashes over you before they've even started the lyrics. And once the lyrics kick in, man... I was going through a rough patch a couple years ago, and when this song came on in the car, I just had to pull over and bawl my eyes out. And it's true... life goes on, man. No matter what's happening, good or bad, it'll pass. Such a simple thing, but so hard to remember sometimes.

4. White Knuckles - because sometimes you just need to rock out. Heavy song with some great lyrical "stand up and fight together" imagery. "Opinions are all provided but nothing is what it seems." A reminder to not let the insanity of our world rob you of your individual feelings, desires, and aspirations. Not to get sucked into what you're told to like, told to want to be, whatever.

5. One Day Remains - because it was the first song they played at the first show I went to, and that was a life-altering experience (no pun intended...heh). Another reminder to not let the world get you down, to not let yourself get you down. You're better than this, whatever it is. The soaring vocals, the badass guitar riffs, it all comes together. Still to this day, my go-to song for trying to cheer people up.

Alright, here we go.

1. Blackbird - This is a pretty easy pick for me, because it's been my all time favourite song ever since I heard it for the first time.
2. The End Is Here - I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with putting this song in second place, but what the hell. When I made a top 10 on the old boards last year I'm pretty sure this song didn't even make the top 10, but it's grown so much on me lately. Everything about it is so perfect.. It's also the first Alter Bridge song I ever heard (the live version on youtube), so I think this is kinda a nostalgic pick too.
3. Ties That Bind - I think this song is very underrated. The shuffle on the drums, the riffs, the flow, the melodies in the chorus (and the wonderful chord progression!).. Love it!
4. In Loving Memory - I've always connected with this song.. The live version of this in LFA will always be remembered as one of the most beautiful Alter Bridge moments ever.
5. Life Must Go On - This was a really tough choice. I finally chose it because it helped me deal with stuff last year and I kinda hold it in high regards of that. Any of the following songs could've taken this spot though: Watch Over You, All Hope Is Gone, One Day Remains, White Knuckles, Ghost Of Days Gone By, Isolation, Zero...
