Thank you sir! The day I found it was the day my life was complete. Its the reason I don't have a sig. Pulling away any attention from it would be a sinAndy92 wrote:You still have my favorite avatar.

If avatar of the year gets back in the awards, and you win it, I want an honorable mention for my advice:

I guess while i'm posting I should post on topic. I much prefer Mark's lyrics. He's not as cliché as Myles plus his melodies are golden. With that being said... I want Myles to really feel what's he's singing emotionally so a combination would be great. Myles needs input but Mark just says things more poetically

That's what I'm talking about!
Okay, okay, I'll write something regarding the topic. I typically prefer Mark's lyrics, so I voted for him. Myles has written some gems like Wayward One and Blackbird, but he hasn't shown consistency to me. Most of the Apocalyptic Love lyrics were kind of meh too, although he came up with some unique lines. Anastasia is a cool lyric.

It's quite clear here that the majority of people prefer the writing on Blackbird than One Day Remains.. Would i be correct in saying that?
Re: Primary Lyrical Writing On AB4..?
Heeeelll no. Blackbird had a couple of good song lyrics but the majority were just generic "change somethin" lyrics. It's all a bit 1985 live aid emptiness. Mark's lyrics can be a bit emo but they connect on a direct emotional level. Myles' lyrics can seem a little forced. I actually thought he did better lyrically on ABIII.

I agree with that, but I don't know about the majority..Jim wrote:It's quite clear here that the majority of people prefer the writing on Blackbird than One Day Remains.. Would i be correct in saying that?

The poll kinda suggests the majority of voters..Timotheus wrote:I agree with that, but I don't know about the majority..Jim wrote:It's quite clear here that the majority of people prefer the writing on Blackbird than One Day Remains.. Would i be correct in saying that?

Re: Primary Lyrical Writing On AB4..?
Hm, the poll asks a different question though. A lot of people might just be voting for 'both' because they think that's what happening, and because they're fine with that. Or because they feel like Myles should have a big part in the writing because he's the singer, eventhough they prefer Mark's writing.
I think if we made a poll with the question: "What's your favourite album lyrically?" the numbers might be really different. It would be interesting to compare..

Yeah, the numbers will be different then.

Yeah, I'd be one to vote differently to that question.Them Bones wrote:Timotheus wrote: I think if we made a poll with the question: "What's your favourite album lyrically?" the numbers might be really different. It would be interesting to compare..

Lyrically Id'e go with AB3 just because it was extremely personal and could be related a little bit more than BB/ODR.

Then we should do this.. Although I get the feeling it's already been asked.
Although it really is asking the same question, ultimately it asks "who is your favourite lyric writer in Alter Bridge?" Either way you word it, it's asking the same question..
Re: Primary Lyrical Writing On AB4..?
But I'm still confused, which lyrics did Mark write on Blackbird? I thought Myles did them all.
For all of the hope that it brings...
Re: Primary Lyrical Writing On AB4..?
No they did them 50/50 on Blackbird. ABIII was where Mark said somewhere (before it was releasd) that Myles had done most of the lyrical writing on the record... Many fans noticed straight away!

Re: Primary Lyrical Writing On AB4..?
Hmmm, are you 100% sure on that? I thought Mark wrote the placeholder lyrics and then Myles changed them all. Myles said something about having the singer write all the lyrics so fans "believe it" when he sings. I could be wrong though.
Wow, I can't believe how longs its been since BB released.

Re: Primary Lyrical Writing On AB4..?
Weird isn't though that I find the songs on ODR to sound much more heart felt.
