I know where you are coming from, I definitely do. I guess I don't believe in it as a place so I know we don't see eye-to-eye but I digress...

I do agree that profanity isn't right for AB and nor should it be, but then again I don't mind Myles using the F-word in Slip or Ghosts as once again, its an intensifier. Studio? No. Live? I have no problem.

Just my two cents though
200% with you.

The word "hell" is not considered a curse by I'm guessing 80%+ of the bands listeners.. Myles wasn't gonna write "So why the frick do you have to change?" It's just the word that's used in that phrase. Around the world by millions of people.. As is "what the hell?!" It's nothing to do with HELL and HEAVEN whatsoever, it's just a phrase.

Swearing doesn't bother me one bit. I'd say some songs benefit from it. An example that comes immediately to mind is the song Get In The Ring by GnR's...used to be one of my hockey teams songs... that spoken part gets me fired up every time.

"An example that comes immediately to mind is the song Get In The Ring by GnR's...used to be one of my hockey teams songs" - yeah man, underated song! I hate to admited, but what make Axl an asshole it's what makes him great too. This music is full of hate to the press!

My opinion: Rock = curse

It's fucking awesome!

People are too sensitive in this country with curse words to begin with. There's a misconception of purity that is attached too much to bands with a positive vibe or message. These guys are not pillars of morality, they're human just like us. Sometimes a curse word, even a minor one like the hells and damns, is the best choice for expression. Like what was said in what I quoted, it's great if you don't want to have it on the album. I have zero issue with letting it come out on stage. Trust me, it's nothing anybody over the age of 10 hasn't heard before.

See over here, where Alter Bridge are most popular... "Damn", "God Damn" and "Hell" aren't even bat an eyelid at. It just doesn't get noticed, I'm guessing it's very much the same for many, many countries. I wouldn't even call the "minor curse words".

It's when bands starting using the F word and S word for no reason... Prime example -

Papa Roach - Breathe You In
"Why do I got to learn the hard way
Why do I got to burn my bridges down
Now that I feel so numb
Can’t I just be me for fuck’s sake"

1. It doesn't need to be there
2. It doesn't fit with the flow of the melody
3. There are a thousand other sentences that would've fitted better

Yeah, it's not the fact that they're swearing that bugs me. I don't swear out of personal choice, I think there are better words that can be said, but I really don't care if other people do. Swearing like that Papa Roach example is just lazy songwriting.

We need a new preview or this whole swearing issue is going to get way more attention than it deserves.

People have spoken their minds on it, which is welcome. It's all speculation until we hear something

You know if he had the chance to do something like that, he would.

To each his own. I just find the more positive/uplifting lyrics 100 times better than the ones with curse words in them. That positive vibe/trend is starting to fade it seems like. I guess I'm being reminded that I like Mark a lot more as a lyricist.

I like to think he's got a notebook full of them, with pictures. "One day, the world will be ready..."
For all of the hope that it brings...

I was being slightly sarcastic. The Total Guitar track by track video was really awesome (can't wait for this album) but some people seem more interested in... swear words :lol
