Bell was used in Show Me a Sign and in Addicted to Pain. It was cheesy then and it is cheesy now.

My favorite moment on the album is the quiet part in This Side of Fate, which reminds me a lot a melody from old french movie "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg".

Oh yeah, Show Me A Sign was the one I was thinking of. Didn't even think of the Addicted intro.

I thought it worked well in the Addicted to Pain intro.

In the background mix of Poison In Your Veins, it sounds like Myles does a high note around 2:40. Am I hearing things?

. The way Flip changes up the drums afte each measure of the intro in The Other Side. Double bass pedal on the third one, and that double hit on the last just makes the main riff open up SO heavy!

. THAT PINCH HARMONIC to start the Crows On A Wire solo - unreal!
. There's no mention of "island of fools" until the very last line of the song. Not sure why but I thought that was cool.

I like that the "a second chance to turn the page" line in Losing Patience seems to be a direct reference to Eden.

That is cool! I really dislike Losing Patience, but it's still really interesting to hear Myles directly open up about his post-MF4 experience. At least it's got good lyrics.

-In Show Me a Leader, the band staccatos all the triplets in the chorus the whole song but doesn't staccato them the last time through. For some reason my brain wanted that to be reversed so it was a cool surprise.
-The infamous Myles Echo was nowhere to be found in Breathe which was a pleasant surprise.
-This Side of Fate, hearing Myles singing over a clean guitar and nothing else with no effects (until the unneeded echo). It stuck out in a good way.

The drum patterns, especially the kick drum, in the Poison In Your Veins chorus. So damn infectious. Love it.

I just realized that the song The Last Hero is a lot like Fortress - not just that it's the last song and the title track, but that it's going to be a grower. I wasn't blown away by Fortress the first time I heard it but even now, I still get more out of it every time I listen. TLH is already starting to do that. One thing I noticed about it that may be helping is that it doesn't sound overproduced like the rest of the album - Myles vocals are not layered throughout most of the song, Mark's harmonies are clearer and used properly, and I can even hear the bass pretty well.

Man I agree 1000%. Love hearing Mark so well in the chorus.

NEVER would have heard that until you mentioned it. Awesome.

I have to mentally strain myself and concentrate because Elvis is so bad. He literally makes the album a chore to listen to.

First time I heard the chorus to Crows on A Wire, I swear to god I heard "clothes on a wire". Damn near ruined the song for me.

Yeah. great catch, Shea. You do have to listen pretty carefully to hear it. I also love the palm muted descent and the faster palm muted (sixteenths?) at the middle and end of the verses of Losing Patience. I seem to be one of the few that really digs that song, but it is really fun to listen to.
