Re: How Many Times

Post by One Drew Remains »

I only became a hardcore AB loving freak a couple of years ago (always liked them, but not enough to drive 3-4 hours). So I have only seen them once. I saw them on the last Carnival of Madness show (2011) in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. So they only did nine songs, so I'm dying to see them do a full set. My brother and I went, and we were in the stands on Brian's side, about even with where they hang the speakers. My left ear rang for two days.

The highlight of the show was about five songs in, when Myles was about to introduce Ghost. We were a particularly rowdy crowd. And he goes "Where have you guys been all tour? God, we've needed a crowd like this." Which leads me to believe that maybe that didn't have a good time on the CoM tour. I dunno. But with that reception, I'm hoping the come close to hear again. I'm literally 3 hours from STL, 4.5 from KC, 4 from Memphis and 4 from Little Rock. It kinda sucks. I figure I'll have to drive to The Pageant in STL to see them this tour.

So Stapp was a douche for taking his shirt off at a show? Do you know how sweaty and hot it gets on stage?

Whatever, I've seen them once at a Creed show.

I had fun. About as good as RHCP when I saw them live.

Many musicians remove clothing on stage, does not make them a douche.

^^ Heck, there were some shows where Myles was shirtless. I did not like it, but we all know that Myles is not a douche.

I've seen AB 6x
Creed twice.
Tremonti twice.

My first AB concert was an amazing memory, because mid-song (Metalingus or One Day Remains can't remember) Mark was shredding so hard and so fast, head banging so ferociously, and I got to close - he hit me in the left arm with his guitar. When I saw him 4 days later I got to show him the bruise.

Rock hurts sometimes.

When I saw him four days later he came out of the venue and said "I didn't hit you tonight did I?!"

Best day of my life because I didn't realize he knew he hit me at the first show. We had talked to the guys before the show, and left right after so I hadn't had the chance to tell him. I guess when you're playing though and the neck of your guitar comes in contact with something solid you notice. Probably why I got a pick both nights. LOL

Hahaha should've run to a tattoo parlor and gotten the bruise inked and signed!

AB: 2
Creed: 1
Tremonti: 1

First time i saw AB was at Rockfest 2011 here in KC...the show was great though i was buried way in back of the 60,000+ people in the crowd and Mark's entire side of the stage went out for an entire song and a half which made Find The Real sound pretty interesting haha...but the highlights didnt come until later that night after the show at the autograph signing...i kinda made a spectacle of myself because everyone else only had one thing to get signed and i showed up with ABIII, LFA dvd, a pic i took with Creed and a guitar book for Mark to sign....so i get up there and Brian was the first at the table, before im even able to say anything he looks up at me and gives me a grin and says "hey i know you! how you been bro??" because i had met the guys with Creed back in 2009 from that point on all my train of thought is GONE out the window hahaha but i was able to manage a few words and catch up a bit with him while he was signing my stuff...same thing with Mark as he took my guitar book looking through it which had his sig tribal PRS in it, he goes "dude where did you get this??...this is the coolest book ever!" of course i couldnt think straight or remember so i just said it was a gift, but im gonna give him a copy next tour! Flip was awesome too i told him he's my favorite drummer and biggest influence, he shook my hand and responded with an earnest "well thank you! means a lot" then i get to Myles and he's sitting there huddled up freezing with his hood plastered to his head on a really unusually cold day in May here but still the friendliest guy ever...i complimented on how great he sounded that show and asked him how he keeps his range so strong and he goes "Man its not easy but its gotta be done!"...awesome experience

Only discovered AB mid 2010 (my bad) but seen...

AB.... 12
Tremonti.... 4 plus 3 support shows
Creed.... 0 :(
Slash & Myles... 14

My first time seeing AB was in Manchester 2010 & I'll say I was a little anxious tbh! Not about the gigs too much (I booked 6 of the 8 shows) but being on my own travelling, going to cities I had never been & being at gigs all solo lol. Needless to say, I met some good people from this forum along the way on that tour & on the last, you know who you are! :)

See, you discovered the band right before AB III came out, and you've seen them 12 times. I wanna live in the UK during AB touring cycles. :lol

No joke. That's some dedication as a fan and to the bank account, Selina.

First Alter Bridge Show

As noted above, my first AB show was at a small club called the Croc Rock in Allentown, PA on October 5th, 2004. The show was on a Tuesday. Since I was rarely sick and not much of a troublemaker, my mom called me in "sick" from school that day. I went with a friend, and we showed up around 2pm in the afternoon, joining maybe a half dozen people in line.

Alter Bridge were still going back and forth between the venue and the bus, so I actually got to meet all four of them. Of course they were the nicest guys. I met Brian first, and he walked back to my car with me so I could fetch the guitar. I remember he spilled his coffee on my car... no big deal. The coolest part was meeting my idol, Mark Tremonti for the first time, and getting to chat with him while he signed my Tremonti SE.

The show blew me away, though I sadly don't remember too many specifics. It was a tiny venue and I was right up on the rail in front of Mark's amps, so my ears rang for the next three days.

Here are a couple photos. Mind you this was almost 10 years ago (!!), so I've aged a bit since then.

Selina is one of the most amazing and dedicated Alter Bridge fans I've met in the 9 years I've been going to their shows. It's an honour to have her here having seen first hand the lengths she goes through to enjoy the guys and their endeavours!

I love it when you swing by Selina, try and get some of the others on here! We need some more female members

I've seen Creed once, Weathered tour, Brett Hestla filling in on bass, Nassau Coliseum.

AB I've seen 4 or 5 times, pretty sure I've seen them twice at Irving Plaza NYC, twice at Starland Ballroom in NJ, and once more in NYC for a MLB All-Star Game special concert with 3 Days Grace in 2010 (whenever the first year was for the new Yankee Stadium), I forget the venue but that show had such a low turnout for such an under-advertised event, you basically got free passes at a Modell's sporting goods store if you dropped $20 or more on MLB apparel (go Yanks) and I they had to get the store manager who completely forgot the promo was going on and had to look for the passes lol! Got to meet them a couple times. Just bought tix for the Oct 4 show at the HOB in Orlando, my wife and I are flying down to go to the show with my cousin and celebrate their birthdays that weekend (His is on the 1st, she's on the 2nd) so I'm totally stoked for that, this will mark the farthest I've traveled to see a band play!

Unfortunately never got to see Mark play solo, was broke ass when he came around to NY.
