Official "The Last Hero" Thread (pre-release discussion)
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Not the only exception I hope
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Judging by the listening party reports and reviews, The Last Hero should be full of surprises as well.
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Listen if we got a review from Shea I would know the BPM of every song, the frequency response of the crash cymbals, and how many times Mark also says deny as the backing vocalist.Lotha wrote:Well it's not like it's prog and you can't predict where a song will go. Especially when it comes to AB, we all know their little tricks and preferred song structures by now. I mean I hope it's surprising but a review won't spoil it, for me at least.

Highest note on the album doesn't always equal a "high note".Lotha wrote:Well there has to be the highest one out of all he sang on TLH right
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Didn't people who heard it say Myles sings pretty high on the album?

So this album is very psychedelic vocally?AB23 wrote:He doesn't sing high, he gets high and then sings
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
That works too
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
How does Myles get high? Inhaling pug farts?
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
I'm more interested in hearing another Myles solo that I can listen to repeatedly on its own without getting bored than high notes.
For all of the hope that it brings...

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
So...does it make me any less of an asshole that I've heard the album?
Found out yesterday in another thread that Newbury comics has signed copies of the album. Originally that's all I wanted, just to continue my little string of signed albums. But now I've got four copies on order. I ordered the limited-edition T-shirt bundle with the signed poster from Alter Bridge's website, then I found out that Best Buy was selling the album with an exclusive bonus track so I bought two copies of that version of the album (one for myself and one for a fellow member of the board's that pm'd me) and last night after reading about it I spent another $24 (I think that's what it was) on a signed copy of the album. All in all I think I'm pretty close to $100
I really wish albums wouldn't leak, yeah it's my choice to listen but it's like once I knew it was leaked I was bummed both generally and for the guys. I want the record to do well and the reality is not everyone will buy the album after hearing it. I saw a post a couple of pages back where somebody said had been not come here they wouldn't have known the album leaked, the same goes for me as well. For me once I found out that the album leaked it was one of those things where it almost made no sense for me to resist because it was available and I didn't have the guilt of having not purchased some copies but I really wish I wouldn't have found out. What bums me out the most is I wonder how negatively this is going to affect their chart position.
As a little side rant, I also wish that people would stop stealing music on such a massive scale. In my eyes the perception that all musicians are millionaires living in mansions is ridiculous and logically unsustainable especially in today's environment if any of these younger kids would take a minute to really think about it. How do you expect an artist to make money if you are stealing their work? Many people look at the music business nowadays and say to themselves the area that the money should really be made is touring because that's where the artist really has to perform their material, but because we don't buy albums anymore in this country record companies don't make their money back and have to start taking proceeds from touring. I just think it's really fucked up and after hearing what Mark and Myles had to say about them being retired by now if it wasn't for Europe, all I can say is thank goodness for my friends across the pond
